Overall purpose of the job:
To ensure effective planning of works for operatives acting on information received from Ontrack or other computerised in-house systems.
Demonstrate flexibility and versatility to support the completion of other roles within the contract when required.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure operatives receive daily work in good time in order for them to be able to carry out their work effectively.
- Plan each day’s work to be achievable within legal constraints and in accordance with the Working Time Directive, ensuring both compliance and operatives’ well-being.
- To ensure planned work is structured to minimize the allocation of fines and penalties for non-completed or overrun works.
- To be able to prioritise planned works to accommodate emergency situations/maintenance.
- Liaise with gangs and their managers throughout the day via telephone and face to face where necessary, giving clear and concise information to the gangs whilst prioritising urgent planned works to accommodate for emergency situations/maintenance.
- Identify works that need to be carried out by external companies e.g. line marking.
- Provide administrative support to the Reinstatement Managers, Area Contract Managers and Client Contract Managers to enable contract to run as smoothly and effectively as possible.
- Liaise with the Purchasing Department with regards to purchasing materials i.e. tarmac needed to carry out works. Ensure correct company procedures are followed.
- Communicate where relevant with gangs, digging gangs, clients agents, council staff members, SQS agents, other SQS planners, managers, customers, and clients.
- Ensure all work is carried out to the quality specifications/criteria of SQS and/or Customer specifications, as applicable.
- Ensure that sites are maintained in compliance with the current NRSWA and/or customer requirements.
- Ensure sites are cleared after closure to secure both public safety and customer satisfaction and no Section 74 charges are incurred.
- Maintaining ongoing project jobs.
- Ensure the “Speak Up” process is followed if there is a need to raise an issue or concern both in and out of normal business hours.
- In the first instance the Manager should contact his immediate line Manager to discuss and agree the correct course of action to resolve the issue or concern.
- If the next level manager is unavailable, is unable to resolve the issue or you are concerned by the course of action you have been advised to take, this must then be raised to the next level of Manager or equivalent person within the business.
- If in doubt always “speak up” and report or discuss concerns with appropriate Manager
