The Trainee Planner is responsible for:
- Ensuring effective planning of works for operatives, based on information from sources such as Ontrack or other computerised in-house systems.
- Demonstrating flexibility and versatility to support completion of other roles within the contract when required.
Key Responsibilities

Work Distribution:
- Ensure operatives receive daily assignments in a timely manner to enable effective work completion.

Compliance & Legality:
- Plan daily tasks to comply with legal constraints and the Working Time Directive, balancing compliance with operative well-being.

Efficiency & Penalties:
- Organise work to minimise allocation of fines or penalties for unrealised or overrun tasks.

Prioritisation & Emergencies:
- Prioritise works to accommodate emergency situations or maintenance, effectively liaising with gangs/managers (telephone/face-to-face), and communicating clear updates.

External Coordination:
- Identify external-related tasks, e.g. line marking, and escalate accordingly.

Administrative Support:
- Assist Reinstatement Managers, Area Contract Managers, and Client Contract Managers to streamline contract operations.

Procurement Liaison:
- Collaborate with Purchasing Department for material procurement (e.g. tarmac), ensuring compliance with company procedures.

Cross-Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate with gangs, digging gangs, clients, council staff, SQS agents, planners, managers, customers, ensuring shared goals and instructions.

Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure works align with SQS quality specifications and/or customer criteria.
- Adhere to NRSWA standards and customer requirements on-site.
- Maintain sites post-closure for public safety, customer satisfaction, and to prevent Section 74 charges.

Continuity & Issues Management:
- Oversee ongoing project jobs.
- Follow the "Speak Up" process for raising concerns (internal and after-hours) via escalation:
- Immediate Manager > Next-level Manager (if unavailable/unresolved or cause for concern).
