Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

Are you passionate about making a positive difference to people's mental health through evidence-based psychological therapies?

We’re offering an exciting opportunity to train as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner within our Peterborough & Cambridgeshire Talking Therapies Service, working as part of a supportive and forward-thinking team at Everyturn Mental Health.


About the Role

In this 12-month full-time training programme, you’ll undertake a fully funded Postgraduate Psychological Wellbeing Practice programme (delivered by the University of Essex). You’ll combine academic study with hands-on clinical experience, including:

  • Attending university teaching
  • Completing independent study
  • Developing practical skills within our service under supervision

A team of experienced managers and supervisors will guide your professional and academic development. Everyturn has a proven track record of supporting trainees into qualified roles.


Eligibility & Requirements

This role is open to:

Applicants with a degree (or equivalent Level 6)

  • Current or recent graduates in psychology, behavioural science, health, or social care are preferred, but all relevant disciplines will be considered.

Applicants without a degree (minimum Level 5)

  • Must have studied up to Level 5 (including GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English)
  • Evidenced minimum of 12 months’ relevant experience in a mental health setting (health, social care, voluntary, or community)

Essential Requirements

  • A proven track record of working positively with people experiencing mental ill health
  • Highly resilient and able to commit to academic and clinical demands
  • Time management skills to handle a high-volume workload, prioritise demands, and meet service targets
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
  • Collaborative ethos with the ability to build effective relationships
  • Autonomy to work flexibly in response to service and patient needs
  • Motivation to become a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

Note: This role is not eligible for sponsorship.


Training Programme Overview

  • College attendance:
    • University teaching days: Initially Tuesdays, with a second day TBC (approximately 60% in-person, 40% remote)
    • Attendance at all university sessions is mandatory
  • **Service-based learning:**You’ll work Monday–Friday with a hybrid working model during in-service days
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Successful completion: Upon graduation, candidates progress into a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner role
