Trainee Refrigeration Engineer

We’re boldly shaping a better future, and we’re looking for a Trainee Engineer to support servicing and repair of vehicle-powered transport refrigeration units.
The role combines hands-on technical work with customer-facing service, guided by a Senior Engineer and supported by career-development opportunities.
What You Will Do
- Servicing & repair of vehicle-powered road transport refrigeration systems
- Optimise and maintain the company engineer van stock to match customer demand and service quality
- Perform daily vehicle safety checks before each workday
- Manage PDA documentation to ensure accurate job tracking, invoicing, and customer communications
- Maintain ISO9002 standards by staying updated on product requirements
- Progress through Certi-Tech certification training to expand your technical skills
- Liaise with central control on job timelines, downtime, and overtime authorisation
- Complete all paperwork & digital requirements to maintain transparent customer communication
- Adhere strictly to company policies, health & safety procedures and ISO9002 compliance
- Prioritise customer service, ensuring a professional appearance (van, tools, spares) and high conduct standards
- Conduct regular vehicle & mechanical checks, operating company vehicles safely
- Work with minimal supervision after establishing trust and competency
- Adapt to flexible working hours as required to meet customers’ needs

What You Will Bring
Essential Qualifications
- F-Gas 2079 certification (mandatory)
- Full "UK driving licence"
Desirable Experience & Skills
- GCSEs in Mathematics & English (or equivalents)
- Basic engineering background (trainee-level, but technical curiosity is a plus)
- Knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems (refrigeration/mobile equipment preferred)
- Practical experience with vans, automotive systems, or mobile equipment
