Job Introduction
Landmarc Support Services is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated Trainee Rural Operative to join our dedicated team. This hands-on trainee role is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in Rural Estate Management, gaining practical experience across a wide range of countryside, forestry and conservation tasks. The Role
- Salary: £25,301.77
- Location: West Tofts Camp, Thetford, Norfolk, IP26 5EP
- Contract: Permanent, Mon–Fri, 37 hrs p/w
About The Organisation
Landmarc provides the essential support services that enable Armed Forces to train for frontline operations across the UK Defence Training Estate. We maintain safe, sustainable infrastructure, operate training areas and ranges, and deliver major projects that enhance vital military training assets. What You’ll Do
As a Trainee Rural Operative, you will have the opportunity to learn and master various aspects of estate management, including:
- Learn rural estate maintenance — practical skills in maintaining and enhancing rural landscapes
- Carry out stone track repairs — learn techniques for repairing and maintaining stone tracks
- Operate fleet and plant machinery — tractors, diggers, strimmers, chainsaws and small plant (full training provided)
- Support fence repairs — maintain and repair fencing across the estate
- Assist with forestry tasks — tree planting, felling, vegetation management and small-scale forestry
- Contribute to conservation work — habitat restoration, pond works, rabbit habitats and Scheduled Ancient Monument maintenance

What We’re Looking For
Enthusiastic individuals who are eager to learn and committed to a future in rural estate management. The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong interest in rural estate maintenance, forestry or countryside/environmental management
- Comfortable operating plant and machinery (full training provided)
- Solid Health & Safety awareness
- Proactive attitude with motivation to improve the Rural Estate
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Passion for working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physical fitness to meet the demands of the role
- Willingness to undertake further training
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
