Trainee Safety Technician

Location: Aberdeen, with travel to client sites as required

Employment Type: Full-time


AMS Global Group is looking to recruit a motivated and practical individual to join our Aberdeen team as a Trainee Safety Technician.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin a technical career within the marine, industrial, and oil and gas sectors. Full training, supervision, and ongoing development will be provided.

The Role

Working from our Aberdeen facility and attending client sites when required, you will support the inspection, servicing, testing, preparation, and management of safety and technical equipment. You will work alongside experienced technicians while developing the knowledge and practical skills required to become a competent Safety Technician.

Your duties will include:

  • Assisting with the inspection, servicing, and testing of safety equipment
  • Preparing equipment for hire, sale, service, and client mobilisation
  • Managing client-owned equipment and rental assets
  • Recording equipment inspections, test results, and service information
  • Supporting the receipt and dispatch of equipment
  • Carrying out general workshop duties and housekeeping
  • Completing basic administrative tasks and maintaining accurate records
  • Following company quality, health, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Attending client sites and offshore or marine locations when required

Equipment Covered

Training may be provided across a wide range of equipment, including:

  • Portable and fixed gas detection equipment
  • Breathing apparatus
  • Fall arrest and working-at-height equipment
  • Radiation detection and monitoring equipment
  • Breathing air compressors
  • Nitrogen generators
  • Firefighting equipment
  • Lifejackets, immersion suits, and other lifesaving apparatus

Candidate Requirements

Previous technical experience is not essential, as full training will be provided. However, the successful candidate should have:

  • A practical, hands-on approach to work
  • A willingness to learn and develop technical skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Basic computer and administrative skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to follow procedures and work safely
  • A reliable and professional attitude
  • A full UK driving licence, or the ability to obtain one within an agreed period
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites when required

Experience within a workshop, engineering, mechanical, electrical, marine, industrial, or oil and gas environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
