Trainee Supply Chain Buyer/Planner

Start Your Career in Supply Chain

We're seeking a Trainee Supply Chain Buyer/Planner to join our Global Supply Chain team in Cirencester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some supply chain experience who is eager to develop their knowledge of purchasing, planning, inventory management, and supplier relationships while working alongside experienced Supply Chain Buyer/Planners.

What you’ll do

  • Support Buyer/Planners with purchase orders and Work in Progress (WIP) reports, ensuring orders are acknowledged promptly and any risks to supply are highlighted.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date open purchase order reports, escalating any issues to the relevant Buyer/Planner.
  • Modify and amend purchase orders generated from requisitions and monitor open PO’s to assist with on-time deliveries.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, confirming production and shipping schedules.
  • Proactively communicate product and material availability issues.
  • Support the review of MRP data and messages, including delay, bring forward, and cancellation recommendations, ensuring supply schedules meet production requirements and safety stock levels.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, including reporting, inventory parameter maintenance, stock reduction initiatives, and reserve percentage measurements.

  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to support an effective and efficient material planning process.
  • Assist with compiling and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Take responsibility for the consumable warehouse within Sage (Warehouse 30), ensuring inventory levels remain accurate.
  • Reconcile supplier deliveries against receipt reports to ensure purchase order accuracy.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
