about the role
Join us as a Trainee Technician (Apprentice) in Taunton, launching your career in automotive glazing with bank-backed financial security, priceless qualifications, and an environment where you grow with the company.
What You’ll Be Part of
This 10-week intensive training program is your gateway to a career with progressive earning potential and long-term career avenues. You will:
- Learn from experienced NVQ-qualified trainers, combining classroom lectures with hands-on practical training.
- Work alongside accrued automotive technicians to assist with windscreen repairs and replacements, building confidence fluently.
- Acquire a nationally recognised NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Automotive Glazing while earning a salary.
- Develop familiarity with hybrid and electric vehicles, gaining advanced training in ADAS calibration after qualifying.
- Personal responsibility for health & safety, ensuring compliance as an emergent member of our team.
- Progress toward independent, autonomous working after successful placement in our network.

responsibilities – while training
- Assist technicians at appointed customer sites, supporting with vehicle alignment, panel removal, and glass installation.
- Promote **National Windscreens’ core values", helping clients value safety, professionalism, and transparency.
- Commit to phantom duties (handling mobile work) as part of branch and customer endeavour goals.
- Maintain and transport hand tools, equipment kits, and safety gear neatly and efficiently.
- Follow established protocols for ABS, dual-curve, and impact-glass repairs, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Contribute to a collaborative environment, adhering to professional workplace standards.
requirements & qualities

Important: You will drive across Taunton-area locations, conforming to health & safety road guidelines. ✔ Spotless teamwork — recognised by your ability to consult colleagues and customers with respect and good communication. ✔ Hard-working and reliable attitude — prioritises growth without micromanagement.

✖ No prior experience/conversation is necessary; training and expertise costs are covered.
The Deal You Agree To
- Regular attendance at train-the-trainer sessions (inc. occasional evening/weekend classes).
- Performance monitoring during your teething phase (first 3 months).
