Leonardo UK is offering an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, forward-thinking team at our state-of-the-art Leonardo Academy in Lincoln. As a Trainer in Electronic Warfare Mission Data, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the EW community by delivering and developing training across a broad spectrum of EW disciplines.
This role is particularly suited to professionals with Mission Data Generation and Operations experience, providing a chance to apply your knowledge and expertise in Electronic Warfare systems to support the next generation of airborne mission success.
As part of a dedicated EW training team, you will
Design, develop and deliver high-quality training packages and courseware which provide part of an integrated solution to the operation of CEMA and cyber systems. Develop training scenarios, based in a synthetic environment, that augment the delivery of more traditional training Develop aspects of training solutions alongside customers and industry partners. Liaise with technical specialist teams to define training requirements and develop technical understanding of CEMA Systems. Support UK and international customers by developing bespoke learning solutions aligned to operational requirements. Liaise with subject matter experts and engineers to translate complex technical content into effective training. Deliver training at UK and overseas customer sites, with regular global travel, including potential for extended stays. Access to professional development pathways, including the opportunity to pursue a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) through our partnership with the University of Lincoln and Certificate in Education Assessment with the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors at University of Hertfordshire.
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for individuals with a strong EW background, preferably with experience on air platforms and Mission Data Generation. Key attributes include
Essential
An understanding and broad awareness of the four operational CEMA pillars
Offensive Activities – including both Offensive Cyber (OC) and Electronic Attack (EA). Inform Activities – Single SIGINT Battlespace (SSB), Electronic Surveillance (ES), Cyber intelligence and reconnaissance. Defensive Activities – Electronic Defence (ED) and Defence Cyber. Enabling Activities – Spectrum Management, Capability assessment and Targeting.

Additional knowledge in at least of the one specific areas of Cyber activities
Offensive Cyber Operations (OCO). Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO). Cyber Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (Cyber ISR). Cyber Operational preparation of the environment (Cyber OPE).
Desirable qualities include a working knowledge of and ability to explain aspects of Cyber, including the following topics
Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model Cyber Kill Chain IP Terminology Network Topologies Cyber attack types Basics of Cryptography Understand Social engineering Data Protection Ability to deliver technical training to diverse audiences, both in the UK and abroad. Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and training development applications. A flexible and team-oriented approach, with experience working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners. Ability to travel internationally for training delivery on a regular basis, no more than a total of 120 days per annum. Hold (or be willing to obtain) an AET Level 3 teaching qualification or equivalent.
Desirable
Knowledge of systems approach to training (SAT) such as JSP 822 etc. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS). Awareness of international defence training practices and export controls.
Security Clearance
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), along with an additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV), including meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV). Due to the nature of the work and its connections to UK Defence strategy, applicants must have five years UK Residency and hold a UK Passport.
Salary Range
Senior Engineer £45k - £58k
Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.
