Job Introduction
Landmarc Support Services are currently seeking to recruit a Training Area Operative to join our dedicated team. In this role you will play a key part in helping to maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train.
We are looking for someone enthusiastic about working in an outdoor environment, dedicated to supporting the Military. Landmarc provide full training and continuous development opportunities, making this a fantastic opportunity to start a career on the Defence Training Estate.

Role Details
- Salary: £27,877.57+ £1,127.50 Variable Days Allowance
- Location: Fingringhoe Ranges, Colchester, Essex, CO5 7LX
- Contract: Permanent / Full-time / On-site
- Hours: 07:00 - 23:30 from Monday to Sunday

What You’ll Do
- To ensure that the Defence Training Estate is kept in top condition
- Carry out preventative, planned and reactive maintenance tasks
- Grounds maintenance and Housekeeping
- Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment (training provided)
- Manufacturing and deploying targets
- Driving and operating fleet vehicles
- Report and deal with unauthorised persons on the Training Area Estate
- To liaise with all stakeholders to ensure effective training area delivery
- Use of Warning systems including training control offices, flags and lights
- Ensure that the facilities adhere to strict safety protocols
- Complete all necessary documentation using both IT and paper-based systems
Essential
What We’re Looking For
- Knowledge of Plant and Machinery
- Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic IT skills with ability to use a tablet
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse, fast-paced team environment
- Good knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety protocols
- A valid Manual UK driving licence is essential to carry out the duties of this role
Desirable
- Experience as a range/ training area user (not essential)
- Knowledge of working in a rural environment
- Basic labouring, caretaking and housekeeping skills

BPSS security clearance is mandatory for all roles; some posts additionally require SC clearance.
