Position Title: Training Developer

Department/Location: Engineering Maintenance/Training

Status: Full-Time, Exempt


Primary Function

We are seeking an experienced Training Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-quality instructional materials for our technical and government contracting programs. This role requires expertise in both eLearning development and traditional instructor-led training, with a focus on serving industry and Department of Defense (DOD) training requirements. The ideal candidate will combine technical proficiency with strong instructional design principles to create engaging, effective learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Course Development & Design

  • Design and develop interactive eLearning courses using Adobe Captivate and other authoring tools
  • Create comprehensive Instructional System Design (ISD) courseware including Instructor Guides, Student Guides, and Presentation Materials that align with program requirements
  • Develop course templates, style guides, storyboards, and engaging user interfaces to ensure consistency and quality across all training materials
  • Maintain and update both Instructor-Led Training (ILT) and eLearning courseware to reflect current program guidelines and standards

Instructional Design

  • Apply instructional design theories, models, and best practices to create effective and engaging learning experiences
  • Define clear learning objectives and establish quality control measures to ensure training effectiveness
  • Monitor progress toward goals and evaluate whether courseware objectives are being met
  • Advise customers on available platform options and recommend optimal delivery modes for various types of courses

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate continuously with subject matter experts (SMEs) throughout the development cycle to ensure technical accuracy and relevance
  • Communicate regularly with customers to understand training needs and ensure deliverables meet defined requirements
  • Work effectively as a subcontractor within the prime organization structure, maintaining professional relationships with all stakeholders
  • Interface professionally with DOD personnel and maintain government contracting standards

Course Delivery & Facilitation

  • Deliver and facilitate Instructor-Led Training (ILT) courses to military and civilian personnel
  • Engage learners through effective presentation techniques, interactive activities, and hands-on exercises
  • Adapt delivery methods to accommodate different learning styles and skill levels
  • Manage classroom dynamics and ensure a positive, productive learning environment
  • Assess learner comprehension and provide feedback throughout training sessions
  • Address questions and provide clarification on course content during instruction

Work Environment

This position operates as a subcontractor supporting prime contractor obligations to the Department of Defense. The role requires professional communication and relationship management with government customers and partner organizations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience developing eLearning courses using author tools
  • Strong knowledge of Instructional System Design (ISD) principles and methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to create Instructor Guides, Student Guides, and presentation materials
  • Experience delivering and facilitating instructor-led training to diverse audiences
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills with ability to engage learners effectively
  • Experience working with subject matter experts to develop technical training content
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working as a government contractor, preferably supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs
  • Familiarity with ADDIE or SAM instructional design models
  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools (Adobe Captivate, Articulate Suite (Storyline, Rise, iSpring, Lectora, DominKNOW)
  • Knowledge of SCORM and LMS platforms
  • Project management experience
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
