Job Title: Training Equipment Manager
About the Role Play a critical role in shaping how the next generation of Royal Navy personnel are trained by ensuring training assets are world-class, ready, safe, and future-focused. As Training Equipment Manager, you’ll take ownership of both strategic and day-to-day management of training equipment across the fleet, ensuring assets are safe, compliant, available, and fit for purpose. This hands-on leadership role demands strong technical expertise, people management, problem-solving, and forward planning.
You’ll lead a team, collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders, and oversee implementation of critical projects overhauling training equipment, upgrades, and sustainment plans. Additionally, you’ll be instrumental in responding to Royal Navy Tasking Orders, delivering clarity from complex requirements to actionable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Administer & Manage Training Assets
- Maintain accurate records of training assets, including inventories, configuration, and lifecycle data.
- Generate regular reports on asset performance, usage risks, and issues.

Team Leadership
- Line manage & develop the team, ensuring clear responsibilities and balanced workloads.

Safety & Compliance
- Oversee health and safety for all asset-related activities, ensuring prompt logging and addressing of issues.
- Ensure compliance with MoD and defence safety standards.

Financial Management
- Manage asset-related budgets, with focus on forecasting, cost-control, and spending compliance.

Supplier & Project Management
- Lead requirements for external suppliers, monitoring performance and adherence to stimulus-level agreements (SLAs).
- Develop clear, actionable responses to Royal Navy Tasking Orders, including scope, costing, and timelines.

Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for equipment matters, ensuring operational, safety, and future capability needs are met.
Location, Contract Type & Security
- Location: HMS Sultan or HMS Collingwood
- Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Mon–Fri)
- Security: UK Security Clearance at SC level mandatory due to nature of role.
- Contract: Permanent, full-time.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- qualified engineer (BSc or equivalent) with a focus on a relevant discipline.
- Strong technical background in training equipment, simulation, or military assets.
- Proven experience in asset management, service delivery, or operational management.
- Ability to manage third-party suppliers and contract performance.
- Strong financial acumen, including budget forecasting, cost control, and vignette accounting.
- MS Office proficiency + experience with asset management systems / reporting tools.
Desirable
- Prior experience in defence-related training or equipment environments.
- Knowledge of HSE (Health & Safety Executive) legislation, MoD safety standards & reporting processes.
- Familiarity with systems like SECRS (ΣEMER Cross-Working & Reporting System) or similar.
