About The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Training Manager to join our Ground Engineering team working on the Sizewell C project in Nacton, Ipswich.
Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable low-carbon electricity.
The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke.
We are more than just an alliance; we are bringing together a single delivery organisation with years of learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide.
Role purpose: To lead, manage and have operational oversight of all training activity across the GSA project, ensuring a consistently competent, compliant, and capable workforce across all delivery partners. The Training Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary training team and work in close collaboration with HR, Site Leadership, and partner organisations to ensure a consistent, high-quality approach to learning, onboarding, and qualifications management across the project.
What you'll be doing
The Successful Candidate Will
- Own and maintain the project training governance framework;
- Ensure training meets project, contractual, statutory and industry requirements;
- Set clear training standards, processes and controls across all partners;
- Provide assurance that training arrangements are effective throughout the project lifecycle;
- Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of project-wide training;
- Align training activity with construction schedules, mobilisation plans and operational priorities;
- Oversee training requests, scheduling, delivery coordination and stakeholder demand;
- Manage training compliance, competence assurance, qualifications, certifications and records;
- Act as the senior escalation point for audits, inspections, assurance reviews and training issues;
- Work with HR, site leadership and partner organisations to support onboarding and workforce deployment;
- Lead, manage, coach and develop the training team, setting clear priorities and expectations;
- Identify training risks, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement in training processes and delivery.

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, experience and skillsets:
Essential
- CIPD Level 5 qualification in Learning & Development or equivalent experience overseeing training activities within a complex, fast-paced environment;
- Demonstrable experience of managing training compliance, qualifications, and competence records across a diverse workforce;
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including partner organisations, contractors, and external training providers;
- Experience operating within a regulated, safety-critical, or large-scale project environment;
- Experience supporting onboarding, mobilisation, and deployment of large or multi-partner workforces;
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to challenge and engage stakeholders at all levels;
- Highly developed organisational, planning, and prioritisation skills, able to manage competing demands;
- High level of resilience, confidence, and professionalism when managing complex or sensitive training issues;
- Advanced IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel) and experience with training or competence management systems.
Desirable
- Proven experience of leading, managing, or supervising a team, including setting priorities, allocating work, and providing performance oversight;
- Strong working knowledge of training governance, compliance, and competence assurance processes;
- Ability to analyse training and compliance data, identify risks, and present clear, actionable information to stakeholders.
