Transaction Manager

Global Head - Transaction Monitoring

Location: London (hybrid)

Our client is seeking an experienced Group Head of Transaction Monitoring to lead and evolve its global Transaction Monitoring (TM) function within a fast-paced fintech and digital assets environment.

This is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing transaction monitoring across both fiat and cryptocurrency payment flows, ensuring compliance with global AML/CFT (Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism) regulations while supporting business growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Transaction Monitoring Analysts, ensuring high-quality investigations and continuous capability development.
  • Design, implement, and maintain transaction monitoring policies, procedures, and control frameworks across fiat and digital asset products.
  • Develop and enhance the Transaction Monitoring component of the Business-Wide Risk Assessment (BWRA), including monitoring rules, thresholds, and risk methodologies.
  • Partner closely with Compliance, MLROs (Money Laundering Reporting Officers), and business stakeholders to ensure effective monitoring of high-value and time-sensitive transactions.
  • Oversee transaction monitoring across traditional payment rails and blockchain networks, including optimisation of RegTech and blockchain analytics solutions.
  • Manage escalation processes, suspicious activity reporting, and the production of management information to support senior leadership and regulatory oversight.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in Transaction Monitoring within fintech, payments, digital assets, or financial services.
  • Previous experience leading and developing Transaction Monitoring teams.
  • Strong knowledge of AML/CFT frameworks, financial crime risk, sanctions, and transaction monitoring best practice.
  • Experience with blockchain analytics and crypto transaction monitoring tools (e.g., Chainalysis, Elliptic, or similar).
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to balance commercial objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth, and regulated environment.
