Transaction Tax Advisory - Associate Director
The Grant Thornton Advisors (NI) Tax Team is a growing team of over 90 specialists with deep industry, sector and technical knowledge.
We are seeking to recruit a talented and ambitious individual to join our Corporate Transactions Tax Advisory team as an Associate Director in Belfast, supporting the continued growth of the practice and helping to deliver high quality services to our clients.
As an Associate Director, you will lead significant elements of Transaction Tax Advisory engagements, working closely with Partners and Directors to deliver commercially focused advice to clients. You will take responsibility for managing projects, developing junior team members and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.
This is a senior role within the team that offers exposure to a wide range of complex transactions, leadership responsibilities, and a clear pathway for further career progression.
Main responsibilities will include:

Leading and delivering on client engagements that are significant in scope and complexity, with appropriate oversight, by providing high‑quality, practical solutions to complex technical tax issues.

Managing multiple Transaction Tax Advisory projects concurrently, including tax due diligence (buy side and sell side), M&A structuring support and other tax structuring assignments.

Acting as a key technical resource within the team, maintaining up‑to‑date specialist knowledge and contributing to the resolution of complex transaction‑related tax issues.

Supporting the development and maintenance of strong client relationships, gaining a good understanding of clients’ businesses, strategies and objectives.

Assisting Partners and Directors in identifying opportunities to provide additional services to new and existing clients.

Managing, mentoring and coaching junior members of the team, providing technical guidance, on‑the‑job development and performance feedback.

Collaborating effectively with colleagues across the wider firm and with third‑party advisors to deliver integrated services to clients.

Contributing to the financial management of engagements, including budgeting, monitoring recoveries and supporting delivery against team financial targets.

ACA/ACCA and/or CTA qualified.

Significant post qualification experience of working in a corporation tax department of large practice. Experience within a Big Four or top-tier professional services firm is desirable, although equivalent experience in industry will be considered.

Demonstrable experience of working on Transaction Tax Advisory assignments, including due diligence and structuring.

Experience of supervising and developing junior team members, with a proactive interest in team performance, development and wellbeing.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to both clients and colleagues.
