About The Opportunity
Do you have the leadership, integrity and investigative expertise to tackle corruption, protect organisational integrity and safeguard public trust?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Detective Inspector within the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU).
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for leading the force's response to corruption-related threats, intelligence development and proactive investigations. The successful candidate will oversee complex, sensitive and often covert enquiries relating to police corruption, abuse of position, information breaches, inappropriate associations, dishonest conduct and other matters that threaten public confidence in policing.
As the Detective Inspector for Anti-Corruption, you will provide leadership and governance to a team of investigators and intelligence practitioners, ensuring that intelligence is effectively developed, assessed and exploited to identify, prevent and investigate corruption risks across the organisation.
You will be responsible for the management of high-risk and high-profile investigations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, national guidance, covert policing authorities and professional standards frameworks. Working closely with the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), Regional Organised Crime Units, counter-corruption networks and partner agencies, you will identify emerging threats and deliver effective interventions that protect both the organisation and the public.
The role requires strong leadership, sound judgement and the ability to balance organisational risk, individual welfare and operational effectiveness in complex and challenging circumstances.
You will play a key role in shaping force-wide integrity strategies, developing preventative approaches to corruption, promoting organisational learning and ensuring Staffordshire Police maintains the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
