Fixed-Term Project Manager (18 months) – Modernisation Programme

Location: Lynton House, Ilford / Hybrid Employment: Full-time

About the Role

Redbridge Council is transforming its operations through an ambitious Modernisation Programme, focusing on improving service design, leveraging data, digital technology, and innovation to deliver better outcomes for residents while ensuring long-term sustainability.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver a diverse range of modernisation projects that align with key Council priorities and drive organisation-wide improvements.

Your role will involve:

  • Promoting a collaborative culture to enhance service delivery across departments.
  • Planning, managing, and successfully delivering time-sensitive projects from inception to implementation.
  • Collaborating with service teams, stakeholders, and cross-disciplinary project groups to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes.
  • Coordination of governance, risk management, and stakeholder communication throughout project lifecycles.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties:

  • Lead modernisation projects across various Council services to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, delivery schedules, and governance documentation.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in partnership with service teams.
  • Monitor risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests, ensuring proactive issue resolution.
  • Provide transparent reporting to programme boards and senior leadership.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Support service improvements, digital initiatives, and organisational change.
  • Ensure alignment with stakeholder expectations, governance standards, and Council methodologies.

About You

We seek organised, proactive Project Managers with experience in delivering projects within complex, high-stakes environments. You must thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, balancing multiple priorities while driving performance improvements.

Essential:

  • Proven track record in delivering end-to-end projects within public sector or corporate settings.
  • Strong project planning, governance, and reporting skills.
  • Expertise in managing risks, issues, actions, and dependencies.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to influence, problem-solve, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • A recognised project management qualification (PRINCE2, APMG, or similar).
  • Experience in digital transformation, data-driven projects, or service redesign.
