About the Role

As a Transformation Director, you’ll drive large-scale, complex change by working with senior leaders to transform how we operate—leaving Britain with a smarter, cleaner energy system and enabling customers to live sustainably.

Key Accountabilities

  • Strategic Business Partnership

    • Collaborate with senior leaders to define clear, achievable transformation plans derived from strategic ambitions.
    • Challenge execution while offering practical problem-solving and external value creation perspectives.
    • Align priorities, investment, and roadmaps while balancing risks and delivery.
  • Transformation & Programme Leadership

    • Lead end-to-end, multi-million-pound transformation programmes.
    • Ensure customer-centric and colleague-focused outcomes, embedding change seamlessly into daily operations.
    • Manage scope, cost, quality, and business benefits at scale.

  • Digital, Data & Technology Leadership

    • Champion insight-driven AI, automation, and analytics to drive transformation.
    • Shape product development and tech strategy in collaboration with businesses.
    • Use data-driven decision-making to identify opportunities and measure impact.
  • Delivery Excellence & Governance

    • Provide governance structure and programme oversight to ensure successful delivery.
    • Partner with transformation-elected stakeholders to prioritise work effectively.
    • Hold strategy accountable while managing operational realisticities and risks.
  • Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

    • Build relationships, resolve tensions, and resolve competing priorities to sustain momentum.
    • Facilitate aligned decision-making across multi-functional teams.
  • Workforce & Skills Planning

    • Identify skills gaps and workforce implications of transformation programmes.
    • Support capability development and a culture of continuous learning.
  • Regulatory, Risk & ESG Stewardship

    • Ensure transformations are ethically responsible and legally compliant.
    • Integrate ESG considerations into delivery strategy.
  • Leadership & Culture Change

    • Lead high-performing teams and embed innovative ways of working.
    • Drive behavioural change to sustain long-term benefits.

What We’re Looking For

Work Experience & Functional Skills

  • Transformational leadership: Proven track record leading multi-billion-pound change programmes (£50m–£200m+).
  • Energy transition expertise: Strong understanding of low-carbon technologies, smart homes, electrification, and sustainable energy services.
  • Strategic partnership: Experience influencing Executive and Board-level stakeholders.
  • Delivery excellence: Mastery of governance, change management, and commercial strategy to drive measurable outcomes.
  • Digital & AI maturity: Experience leading data-driven, automation-enabled transformations.
  • Workforce & capability: Skilled in workforce planning, capability growth, and team development.
  • Compliance & risk management: Hands-on experience navigating regulated operations, governance, and risk frameworks.
  • Change leadership skills: Proven ability to drive cultural transformation and embed new ways of working.

Education & Certifications

  • Preferred: Degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Advantaous: Knowledge of Agile, MSP, PRINCE2, or Lean methodologies.
  • Optional: Professional qualifications in programme management, change, digital/tech, data, or ESG strategies.
