Overview

We are seeking an experienced Transformation Director to lead a business-wide transformation programme for a leading organisation within the construction sector.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will be responsible for defining and delivering the organisation's transformation strategy, driving operational excellence, digital innovation and business change across multiple functions.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading large-scale transformation programmes within complex organisations, with experience delivering strategic initiatives that improve operational performance, enhance customer outcomes and support long-term business growth.

Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, you will lead cross-functional programmes, embed new ways of working and ensure transformation initiatives deliver measurable business value.

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring exceptional stakeholder management, commercial acumen and the ability to successfully deliver change across a fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the organisation's transformation strategy, aligned to business objectives and future growth plans.
  • Lead multiple strategic transformation programmes across operations, technology, commercial and corporate functions.
  • Partner with Executive and Senior Leadership teams to identify opportunities for operational improvement and business change.
  • Establish robust programme governance, ensuring effective management of risks, budgets, resources and delivery milestones.
  • Drive business process improvement, operational efficiency and organisational effectiveness.
  • Lead organisational change initiatives, ensuring successful stakeholder engagement, communication and adoption.
  • Work closely with technology teams to support digital transformation initiatives and the implementation of new systems and platforms.
  • Develop and monitor programme KPIs, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable benefits and return on investment.
  • Build and lead high-performing programme teams, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement across the business.
  • Ensure transformation initiatives support compliance, governance and operational excellence across the organisation.

Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Transformation Director, Head of Transformation or Senior Programme Director within a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable success delivering enterprise-wide business transformation programmes.
  • Experience leading organisational change across multiple business functions.
  • Strong background in programme governance, portfolio management and benefits realisation.
  • Experience driving operational improvement, business process optimisation and strategic change.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience engaging Executive Boards and senior leadership teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing significant programme budgets and resources.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication and influencing skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within the construction, infrastructure, engineering or property sectors.
  • Experience delivering digital transformation, ERP or enterprise technology programmes.
  • Knowledge of project controls, operational excellence or Lean methodologies.
  • Experience working within multi-site operational businesses.
  • Relevant qualifications in Programme Management, Change Management or Project Management (MSP, PRINCE2, APM or equivalent).
