About the Role (Overview)
At Centrica Home, we merge British Gas’s longevity, Hive’s innovation, and digital + AI power to reimagine energy and home services. As customers shift toward lower-carbon, smarter, and smarter-connected living, we’re reinventing how we serve them—designing fresh ways to close the gap for a safer, sustainable tomorrow.
In this role, you will orchestrate wide-ranging transformation programs that unlock lasting value for our customers, colleagues, and the organisation whilst partnering with business leaders to translate strategy into scalable reality.
Key Focus Areas
Your primary accountabilities will revolve around these strands:
🔹 Strategic Business Partnership
- Collaborate with senior leaders to break down strategic ambitions into concrete, achievable transformation roadmaps.
- Provide diplomatic yet robust strategic challenge and delivery leadership.
- Align investments, prioritise risks, and coordinate flow between transformation and operational priorities.
- Evaluate risks, cost reliability, and opportunity creation from external perspectives.
🔹 Transformation & Programme Leadership
- Steer complex, large-scale programs and portfolios, covering design, delivery strategies, and lifecycle.
- Own end-to-end outcomes on scope, cost, quality, and benefits realisation.
- Ensure tailored change spearheads—ultimately shifting perspectives from the audience to-real-world impact.
- Embed changes to “just how we operate,” checking long-term business resilience.

🔹 Enterprise-Wide Digital & Data Leadership
- Leverage digital evolution (tech, automation, AI) to fast-track transformation and demonstrate results.
- Champion analyses-led decision making with proactiveness and data-backed insights.
- Collaborate closely with business leaders on shaping tech, product flavours, and operating efficiency.
- Use data to spot new avenues, appraise impact, and guide adaptive strategic shifts.
🔹 Delivery Excellence & Governance
- Build robust structures to support successful project delivery with governance.
- Partner with Transformation & Programme Office ensuring sequenced priorities.
- Balance bold ambitions with operational feasibility, avoiding excessive risk.
- Maintain clarity on progress, dependency chains, and benefits—transparently and real-time.
🔹 Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Rally executive teams across functions for collaborative delivery.
- Lead crucial cross-functional groups, mitigating conflicting priorities.
- Convert competing needs into solutions that catalyse momentum.
🔹 Strategic Workforce & Skills Planning
- Identify gaps between current capabilities and future needs.
- Drive departmental strategy for knowledge, agility, and learning juggernauts.
🔹 Regulatory, Risk & ESG Stewardship
- Ensure transformations align with legal, ethical, and sustainable compliance.
- Steer complexities of monitoring risks for employees, customers, and brands in regulated markets.
- Build frameworks to weave ESG considerations into governance and execution.
🔹 Leadership, Culture Change & Capability Building
- Form high-performance teams, creating shared vision and achievement.
- Champion leading edge behaviors and embed shifts through insights.
- Foster an adaptive, stop-nothing culture, striving always toward excellence—emphasizing both tradition and transformation.
What We’re Looking For
Work Experience & Functional/Technical Skills
For this role, we seek a seasoned leader who has:
- 📥 Deep experience managing £50m+ transformation programmes or portfolios.
- 🌱 Insight into energy transitions—alongside electrification, low-carbon tech adoption, and agile home tech ecosystems.
- 🔗 Proven senior stakeholder engagement, particularly collaboration with Board-level figures.
- ⚠️ Strong background in programme delivery, scope governance, risk acceleration management, and change-led transitions.
- 💼 Expert commercial tonal application—translating vision through actionable, measurable plans.
- ✨ Tech entails digital, automation, analytics, and AI initiatives—with eye for efficiency, innovation, and disruption-installability.
- 👥 Sophisticated approach to workforce alignment/transformation maturity management—equipping (and inspiring) teams to lead growth.
- 📜 Proven regulatory savvy—understanding operational and governance best practices across heavily regulated industries.
- 🔄 Capacity to simultaneously direct, adapt, and publish, consistently creating success mid-chaos.

Education & Logistics
- Min a degree qualification or alternative verified professional experience.
- ☁️ Preferable knowledge of Agile, MSP, PRINCE 2, or Lean frameworks.
- 🎓 Any relevant industry credential in program delivery, change management, digital transformation, data strategy, or risk control would add significant weight.
