As a Transformation Director, you’ll be at the heart of this journey: leading transformative programmes that deliver real-world impact for our customers, colleagues, and business. You’ll work closely with leaders to shape strategies, drive execution, and unlock societal-scale change.
Responsibilities
Some of your key accountabilities will include:
Strategic Business Partnership
- Partner with senior leaders to turn strategic ambitions into clear, actionable transformation plans.
- Bring strategic challenge, delivery leadership, and problem-solving to the table.
- Align priorities, investments, and transformation roadmaps.
- Apply an external perspective to value creation, risk assessment, and delivery execution.
Transformation & Programme Leadership
- Lead complex, large-scale transformation programmes and portfolios from design to successful delivery.
- Deliver measurable outcomes across scope, cost, quality, and benefits.
- Ensure transformation remains customer- and colleague-centric, and its benefits are embedded systemically.
- Drive accountability and sustainable business growth.

Enterprise-Wide Digital & Data Leadership
- Harness digital, data, automation, and AI to accelerate transformation and business performance.
- Champion innovation-led approaches rooted in data insights.
- Shape technology and product strategy alongside business leaders.
- Use data-driven analytics to identify opportunities, measure impact, and inform decision-making.
Delivery Excellence & Governance
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks to ensure successful transformation delivery.
- Partner with senior leadership to prioritise and sequence work streams.
- Balance strategic vision with operational realities.
- Provide real-time visibility on risks, dependencies, benefits, and progress.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Foster aligned decision-making across leaders, teams, and functions.
- Build trusted relationships with executive stakeholders.
- Navigate competing priorities and resolve complex delivery challenges.
- Drive clarity and momentum across transformation portfolios.
Strategic Workforce & Skills Planning
- Strengthen the organisation with the future-ready capabilities it needs.
- Identify skills gaps and workforce implications.
- Support workforce planning and capability development initiatives.
- Cultivate a culture of learning, adaptability, and continuous improvement.
Regulatory, Risk & ESG Stewardship
- Ensure transformations are delivered ethically, responsibly, and sustainably.
- Manage regulatory, operational, and delivery risks.
- Embed strong governance and controls.
- Integrate ESG considerations into programme design and execution.
Leadership, Culture Change & Capability Building
- Lead high-performing teams and embed new ways of working across the business.
- Set a clear, inspiring direction.
- Encourage shared ownership and collaboration.
- Drive behavioural change and lasting adoption.
Requirements
Work Experience & Technical Skills
- Relevant experience:
- Significant track record leading large-scale transformation programmes or portfolios, preferably with budgets between £50m to £200m+.
- Deep understanding of the energy transition—including low-carbon technologies, smart home solutions, energy flexibility, electrification, and sustainable digital services.
- Proven ability to partner successfully with executives and boards.
- Strong background in programme management, governance, and change management.
- Ability to translate strategy into measurable business outcomes.
- Experience overseeing digital, data, and technology-driven transformations (e.g., automation, analytics, AI).
- Knowledge of workforce planning, organisational capability development, and structuring transformation teams.
- Experience in regulated environments, concentrating on governance, compliance, and risk.
- Track record:
- Strong history of delivering cultural change and embedding new work practices.
- Comfortable leading ambiguity-heavy, high-stakes work while maintaining focus on delivery.

Education & Certifications
- Degree qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- Methodologies:
- Preferred experience with Agile, MSP, PRINCE2, or Lean techniques.
- Desirable credentials:
- Professional qualifications in programme delivery, change, digital transitions, data, or risk management.
