About The Role

As a Transformation Director within Centrica Home, you’ll drive transformational change aligned with Centrica’s unique auditourise of British Gas’s strengths combined with Hive’s innovation and digital, data, and AI capabilities. Our customers are transitioning quickly toward lower-carbon, smarter, and more connected homes, which means we’re evolving how we serve them—creating new products, sustainable services, and modern business models.

You’ll play a central role here:

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Business Partnership

    • Partner with senior leaders to convert ambitions into realistic transformation plans.
    • Provide strategic guidance and delivery leadership while identifying risk reduction and value creation.
    • Clarify priorities, make investment decisions, and shape roadmaps for strategic alignment.
  • Transformation & Programme Leadership

    • Lead large-scale, complex transformation programmes (across all stages: design, execution, delivery).
    • Deliver coherent results across scope, cost, quality, and benefits—always looking for business-as-usual allocations.
    • Ensure customer and colleague-centric change and long-term sustainability integrated within the business.

  • Enterprise-Wide Digital & Data Leadership

    • Leverage digital, data, automation, and AI to drive transformation effectively.
    • Champion innovative, agile, and data-driven solutions to optimize products and workflows.
    • Develop forward-thinking tech/product strategies with business leaders.
  • Delivery Excellence & Governance

    • Launch critical structure, governance, and assurance frameworks for successful delivery.
    • Work with the Transformation & Methodology Office (TMO) to prioritise and optimise delivery activity.
    • Balance high-level strategy with operational excellence, ensuring that risks, dependencies, and benefits are controlled and visible.
  • Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

    • Unite teams from diverse functions for aligned decision-making and smooth cross-functional flows.
    • Cultivate strong relationships at executive levels, addressing competing priorities and navigating intricate delivery challenges.
    • Keep visibility, momentum, and clear deliverables for transformation projects consistently.
  • Strategic Workforce & Skills Planning

    • Future-proof the organisation by identifying skill gaps and workforce needs.
    • Support workforce planning and capability improvement, fostering adaptability and ongoing development.
  • Regulatory, Risk & ESG Stewardship

    • Implement corporate and delivery risk management, ensuring responsible transformations.
    • Embed strong governance, compliance, and controls within programmes.
    • Significantly incorporate ESG considerations into all design and delivery phases.
  • Leadership, Culture Change & Capability Building

    • Drive high-performing teams and establish lasting behavioural and process shifts company-wide.
    • Set clear direction, expectations, and accountability.
    • Encourage collaboration and ownership over outcomes, while investing in staff growth and adoption.

What We’re Looking For

✅ Required Work Experience & Functional Skills

  • Extensive background in leading £50m–£200m+ transformation programmes/portfolios.
  • In-depth comprehension of energy transition challenges and business models—across low-carbon tech, smart homes, electrification, and sustainable energy solutions.
  • Proven track record in collaborating with C-suite and Board members.
  • Competence in engaged programme delivery, tight governance, and transformation change management.
  • Profound commercial acumen—transforming strategy into quantifiable business achievements.
  • Hands-on digital, data, and AI-driven transformation experience, including automation, analytics, and machine learning.
  • Substantial insight into workforce planning, organisational capability and skills development, especially for agile transformation teams.
  • Proven regulated industry experience, including governance, compliance, and risk management.
  • History of driving cultural shifts and establishing sustainable operational changes.
  • Able to navigate ambiguity and complexity with commitment to delivery objectives.

✅ Preferred Education & Certifications

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Knowledge of programme/project methodologies, including Agile, MSP, PRINCE2, Lean.
  • Professional certifications in programme leadership, change management, digital/ESG-adjacent roles.
