At Centrica Home, we combine British Gas, Hive, and leading-edge digital, data, and AI technologies to redefine how we power modern living.

As a Transformation Director, you’ll be at the heart of this exciting evolution. Your role? Steer strategic initiatives, lead high-impact transformations, and ensure alignment between technology, sustainability, and business growth. Together, we’ll build an energy ecosystem that is smarter, inclusively sustainable, and customer-centred.

  • Changing how energy is consumed—getting hundreds of thousands of homes onto smarter grids, retooling energy packages, and improving accessibility.
  • Forge new business models that prioritise sustainability and customer success.
  • Improve lives by integrating digital tools, incentivising renewable adoption, and equipping our community—both the British Gas brand and our customers—with cleaner, energy-conscious strategies.

The team isn’t short on ambition. We’re a force driving Net Zero and دمج معقد door-to-door energy transition, on schedule. You’ll work closely with our Executive Leaders to shape strategy, mitigate risks, and unlock value—because today’s changes impact tomorrow’s outcomes too.


Core Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Transform strategic visions into actionable, measurable transformation plans.
  • Provide strategic rigor, robust governance, and pragmatic problem-solving alongside senior leaders.
  • Partner with stakeholders to align priorities—setting clear investment frameworks, risk mitigation, and long-term roadmaps.
  • Bring external credibility to internal challenges—ensuring balanced ideas fuel growth.

Transformation & Programme Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end transformation programmes and portfolios ($50M–$200M+ in scope).
  • Deliver inłada section-during observations (scope, cost, quality, benefits).
  • Embed change so it feels natural—shifting from projects to sustainable operational norms.
  • Create accountability matrices, monitor benefits realisation, and ensure customer-first readiness.

Enterprise-Wide Digital & Data Leadership

  • Propel transformation via AI, automation, and data-driven strategies.
  • Champion futuristic solutions (e.g., Hive’s connected thermostat intelligence, smart charging predictions).
  • Drive digital transformation with technological overhauls aligned to business goals.
  • Use data insights to optimise decision-making, forecast trends, and shape AI-backed advancements.

Delivery Excellence & Governance

  • Standardise execution frameworks—enhancing visibility, risk management, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Transformation & Methodology Office (TMO) to prioritise projects and eliminate blockers.
  • Navigate tactical complexity while keeping strategic vision alive.
  • Keep transformations aligned with business-as-usual—balancing speed and stability.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

  • Cultivate senior-level trust through concise communication, question clarity, and decisiveness.
  • Resolve prioritisation conflicts among rivals—balancing short-term wins with strategic needs.
  • Coordinate cross-functional energy to drive aligned momentum and shared ownership.

Strategic Workforce & Skills Planning

  • Future-proof the workforce by identifying gap skills and capability needs.
  • Oversee training, personal development, and capability assessments.
  • Develop cohesive learning cultures—fostering adaptability and continuous improvement.

Regulatory, Risk & ESG Stewardship

  • Embed regulatory compliance, risk occasions, and ethical governance into programmes.
  • Integrate ESG considerations in every phase—ensuring environmental benefits translate to measurable impact.

Leadership, Culture Change & Capability Building

Engineer outcomes that stagger teams and sustain adoption:

  • Lead with inspiring purpose, ensuring everyone owns the transformation.
  • Build agile organisations that embrace proactive change.
  • Help cultivate talent pipelines and measures of behavioural impact.

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Technical Expertise

  • Proven leadership across:
    • Capturing value via £50m–£200m+ portfolio-level transformations (or equivalent).
    • Driving energy transition—understanding smarter homes (e.g., Hive devices), electrification, grid flexibility, and renewable sources.
    • Navigating regulatory environments without compromise.
    • Leading efforts in agile governance, change, and digital implementation.
  • A track record of strategically influencing executive decisions—aligning transformation with revenue, cost savings, and market changes.
  • Delivery liftoff: Change leadership (including Transformation via mergers like Hive-to-BG or One team).
  • Experience leveraging technology (automation, AI, analytics) to create scalable change.
  • Practicalise people panning, organisational capability, and workforce sustainability strategies.
  • Governance & compliance: Experience in high-stakes environments.
  • Bringing change through unpredictability and ambiguity—never compromising on speed.
