About the Role
As Transformation Director, you’ll spearhead large-scale initiatives that transform how we serve our customers, redefine our business urgently, and drive sustainable change. You’ll partner with senior leaders to shape strategy, execute prioritised projects, and realise long-term value at scale.
Your core responsibilities will include:

Strategic Business Partnership
- Collaborate with senior leaders to translate strategic ambitions into actionable transformation plans.
- Provide strategic challenge, problem-solving expertise, and delivery leadership.
- Align investment decisions, roadmaps, and transformation priorities with business needs.
- Bring external perspectives to value creation, risk management, and delivery optimisation.

Transformation & Programme Leadership
- Oversee complex, multi-million-pound transformation programmes from start to finish.
- Ensure outcomes are achieved on time, on scope, on budget, and with long-term business impact.
- Embed change internally and externally, ensuring it becomes business-as-usual.
- Drive accountability and sustain measurable improvements.

Enterprise-Wide Digital & Data Leadership
- Leverage AI, advanced analytics, and automation to accelerate transformation and enhance performance.
- Champion innovative, data-driven approaches that inform business decisions.
- Shape technology-product direction, guiding decisions alongside leadership teams.
- Use data to identify opportunities, refine strategies, and measure impact.

Delivery Excellence & Governance
- Establish robust governance, risk management, and assurance frameworks.
- Work with the Transformation Operations (TMO) team to prioritise and sequence activities.
- Optimise the balance between strategic vision and operational realities.
- Maintain real-time visibility of progress, risks, dependencies, and benefits.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Foster cross-functional alignment, driving impactful decision-making across leaders, teams, and functions.
- Build trusted relationships with executive stakeholders.
- Navigate competing priorities and delivery complexities to create clarity and momentum.

Strategic Workforce & Skills Planning
- Guide organisational transformation by identifying skills gaps and workforce transitions needed.
- Develop strategies for capability building, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Regulatory, Risk & ESG Stewardship
- Deliver transformations responsibly and sustainably, aligning with strategic priorities.
- Manage compliance, operational, and governance risks.
- Embed ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) considerations into programme design.

Leadership, Culture Change & Capability Building
- Lead high-performing teams and create a culture of collaboration and shared ownership.
- Establish clear direction and expectations, encouraging behavioural change.
- Drive adoption of agile ways of working through targeted interventions.
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Functional Expertise
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience leading large-scale transformations (£50m–£200m+) within complex business environments.
- A deep understanding of energy transition challenges, including:
- Zero-carbon technologies (e.g., heat pumps, smart grids),
- Electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure,
- Digitalisation of energy services,
- Energy flexibility and electrification strategies.
- Strong partnership experience at Executive and Board levels, driving strategy execution.
- Expertise in programme delivery, change management, governance, and commercial problem-solving.
- Experience leading digital and technology-driven transformations, including embedding AI, automation, and analytics.
- Ability to drive workforce planning, skills development, and adaptability. Comfort working within regulated industries and managing compliance risks.
- A track record of fostering cultural change and guiding organisational adoption.

Education & Skills
- Degree qualification (or equivalent professional experience).
- Knowledge of proven methodologies like Agile, MSP, PRINCE2, and Lean.
- Additional technical expertise in project management, change, digital, data, or risk governance would be advantageous.
