About The Role: Transformation Director (Flexible UK Locations, FlexFirst Hybrid Working)

You’ll be at the heart of this transformation, leading programmes that shape customer experiences, colleague culture, and business growth. Collaborating with senior leaders, you’ll turn bold visions into actionable strategies, drive execution, and unlock large-scale, long-lasting value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Business Partnership

    • Translate strategic ambitions into clear, achievable transformation plans, challenging assumptions and aligning priorities with business goals.
    • Partner with leadership to guide investment decisions and shape transformation roadmaps.
    • Bring an external perspective to value creation, risk assessment, and problem-solving.
  • Transformation & Programme Leadership

    • Lead complex, multi-million-pound programmes, ensuring cost-efficient, high-quality delivery that drives real business impact.
    • Focus on customer and colleague-centric change, embedding it seamlessly into daily operations.
    • Hold teams accountable for sustainable results while balancing speed and sustainability.

    • Leverage AI, automation, data analytics, and digital innovation to accelerate transformation.
    • Advise on technology and product direction, ensuring alignment with business needs.
    • Use data to identify opportunities, measure impact, and guide decisions.
  • Delivery Excellence & Governance

    • Establish strong governance structures to ensure transformation success.
    • Prioritise and sequence work with Transformation & Modernisation Office (TMO), balancing ambition with pragmatism.
    • Maintain transparency on risk, dependencies, and benefits across initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

    • Foster clear, aligned decision-making by engaging executives and cross-functional teams.
    • Navigate competing priorities to protect transformation momentum.
    • Build trusted relationships

      • with executive leadership.
  • Strategic Workforce & Skills Planning

    • Identify skills gaps, assess workforce implications, and support capability development.
    • Promote a culture of learning, adaptability, and continuous improvement.
  • Regulatory, Risk & ESG Stewardship

    • Ensure transformations adhere to regulatory, operational, and ethical standards.
    • Integrate ESG principles into programme design and delivery.
  • Leadership, Culture Change & Capability Building

    • Lead high-performing, dynamic teams, embedding new ways of working.
    • Drive shared ownership of outcomes and behavioural transformation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Magnitude of Leadership: Proven track record leading £50m–£200m+ transformation programmes (or equivalent scale).
  • Energy Transition Expertise: Deep understanding of low-carbon technologies (heat pumps, smart homes) and the shift toward sustainable, digitally enabled energy.
  • Executive Partnership: Experience collaborating with Board-level and senior leadership.
  • Delivery & Change Management: Strong background in governance, programme delivery, and organisational change.
  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to translate strategy into measurable business outcomes.
  • Digital & Technological Leadership: Hands-on experience with AI, automation, and data-driven transformation.
  • Workforce & Skills Development: Proven skills in workforce planning, capability building, and transformation team leadership.
  • Regulated Environments: Comfort navigating regulatory frameworks, compliance, and risk management.
  • Cultural Change: History of driving lasting behavioural and operational shifts.

Education & Certifications

  • Qualification: Degree (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Methodologies: Knowledge of Agile, MSP, PRINCE2, or Lean methodologies.
  • Certifications (Advantageous): Programmes in digital, data, risk, or change management.
