The Role: Transformation Director

Overview
As a Transformation Director, you’ll be central to shaping a greener energy future. Partnering with senior leadership, you’ll design and execute large-scale programmes that align strategic visions with tangible, high-impact results. Your work will deliver sustainability-focused evolutions in:
- Customer experiences through smarter home solutions.
- Operational efficiencies reducing carbon footprints.
- Workforce capabilities tailored to the energy transition.
This role demands strategic agility—balancing market realities with bold innovation across energy markets, technology, and human-centred transformations.
Key Accountabilities
1. Strategic Business Partnership
- Translate corporate ambitions into clear transformation roadmaps, working with C-suite and leadership.
- Provide strategic challenge and problem-solving expertise.
- Align priorities, investments, and timelines while identifying external opportunities for value creation.
- Ensure risk assessments and commercial viability drive decisions.

2. Transformation & Programme Leadership
- Lead multi-keto pounds programmes (£50m–£200m+) with skill in design through delivery.
- Ensure succesful outcomes in scope, cost, quality, and long-term benefits.
- Embed change into business-as-usual with customer and colleague focus.
- Drive accountability and scaling sustainable business results.
3. Enterprise-Wide Digital & Data Leadership
- Leverage AI, automation, and data science to accelerate transformations.
- Champion innovative, data-led decision-making.
- Shape future-ready technology solutions and product directions.
- Measure impact through advanced analytics to optimise outcomes.
4. Delivery Excellence & Governance
- Establish robust structures and governance frameworks for successful delivery.
- Partner with the Transformation Management Office (TMO) to prioritise and sequence activities.
- Maintain visibility of progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Navigate trade-offs between strategic ambition and operational pragmatism.
5. Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Bridge silos between leaders, teams, and stakeholders to enable aligned decision-making.
- Build trusted relationships at executive levels, resolving conflicting priorities.
- Provide clarity and momentum in complex transformation portfolios.
6. Strategic Workforce & Skills Planning
- Identify skills gaps and workforce future-proofing needs.
- Support initiatives in capability uplift, onboarding, and cultural agility.
- Foster continuous improvement and adaptability across teams.
7. Regulatory, Risk & ESG Stewardship
- Ensure all transformations adhere to regulatory compliance and ESG principles.
- Manage governance controls, operational risks, and sustainability guidelines.
- Integrate ESG into programme design and delivery frameworks.
8. Leadership, Culture Change & Capability Building
- Lead high-performance teams and embed new ways of working.
- Foster collaboration and shared ownership of transformation goals.
- Drive behavioural change and lasting behavioural adoption.

What You’ll Bring to Us
Experience & Functional Skills
Essential
- 10+ years of experience leading complex transformation programmes (£50m–£200m+ scale).
- Deep knowledge of energy transition, including:
- Renewable energy tech (smart grids, heat pumps, EV infrastructure).
- Customer behaviour change.
- Regulation and decarbonisation pathways.
- Proven experience in partnering with Board-level/executive stakeholders.
- Hands-on expertise in programme delivery, governance, and change management.
- Strong commercial mindset with track record in translating strategy into measurable business outcomes.
- Experience shaping digital, data, and AI-enabled transformations (automation, predictive analytics, agentic AI).
- Understanding of workforce planning, skills development, and organisational capability.
- Experience operating within regulated industries with strong risk awareness.
- Ability to drive cultural change while delivering through ambiguity and uncertainty.
Desirable
- Degree / equivalent professional qualifications (DSM, MBA, or related field).
- Certification in Agile, MSP, PRINCE2, or Lean methodology.
- Project/ Programme Management Professional accreditation (e.g., APM, scrum master).
