About The Role You Are Considering
Accountable for leading complex, high-value managed service transitions into Capgemini, this role is focused on taking services safely from a client organisation or incumbent supplier into steady-state operation. You will provide senior programme leadership across first-generation outsourcing and second or third-generation transitions, often in challenging, multi-supplier environments where continuity of service, confidence-building with senior stakeholders, and robust go-live readiness are critical.
The Transition Director combines strong transition expertise with large-scale programme delivery capability. Alongside service transfer, the role increasingly involves managing technical implementation dependencies such as tooling, monitoring integration, ServiceNow integration, testing, deployment and operational readiness, ensuring services are transitioned without disruption and are fully prepared for live operation.
Hybrid working
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service)
Your role
- Lead transition input to complex, high-value bids, shaping viable transition solutions, plans, assumptions and costs while balancing delivery risk, commercial competitiveness and client confidence.
- Be accountable for the end-to-end transfer of managed services from client organisations or incumbent providers into Capgemini, including first-generation outsourcing and second or third-generation supplier transitions.
- Establish and maintain robust governance structures at strategic, operational, and tactical levels, ensuring compliance with methodologies and contractual requirements.
- Provide comprehensive status reporting and proactively manage risks and escalations to ensure seamless execution and stakeholder alignment.
- Run transition programmes to meet agreed project, service and operational readiness objectives by the target dates and within agreed costs, ensuring services go live safely and remain stable.
- Ensure all transition activities align with contractual terms and requirements.
- Manage technical implementation dependencies within the transition, such as tooling deployment, monitoring integration, ServiceNow integration, testing and deployment activity, where these are required to enable service takeover.
- Focus strongly on service readiness, ensuring support models, rotas, documentation, knowledge transfer, tooling, processes and operational acceptance criteria are in place before go-live.
- Build confidence with senior client stakeholders, including CIO-level audiences, particularly where clients are handing over business-critical services or where incumbent supplier transitions are sensitive or time-constrained.
- Develop innovative, comprehensive, realistic and effective plans that meet client needs and expectations.
- Operate in difficult, complex or political environments taking full responsibility for outcomes. You represent and promote the group internally and externally including at board level.
- Develop strategic partnerships and strong relationships with internal and external clients and maximize benefit for all the parties.
- Help shaping and managing client expectations to grow projects portfolio on the account.
- Lead and build effective delivery teams to meet business objectives and transition requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
