Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a Project Management Professional with expertise in high-voltage substation design for transmission and distribution companies in the UK & Ireland. This role will involve:

  • Team Leadership: Forming and managing project teams, identifying external support requirements
  • Stakeholder & Client Engagement: Defining project deliverables, managing client relationships, and driving contract compliance
  • Project Delivery:
    • Developing project plans and detailed programmes
    • Controlling time, resources, and budgets against forecasts
    • Monitoring progress and reporting milestones
  • Technical Governance: Leading engineering design teams to deliver project outputs
  • Proposals & Tender Support: Assisting bid teams in developing commercial responses
  • Risk & Change Management: Ensuring quality controls and managing potential risks in delivery
  • Vendor & Consultancy Coordination: Managing procurements and framework services for clients

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven track record in managing transmission and distribution projects for utilities, developers, or government clients
  • Specialist knowledge of UK regulated and non-regulated energy sectors, with experience in:
    • High-voltage substations & system network planning
    • Overhead power lines, transformers, SCADA/DMS, and HVDC networks
  • Project Management Certification (APM or PMI) or equivalent experience
  • Client Liaison & Relationship Building skills in a high-stakes environment
  • Technical familiarity with MS Office (especially MS Project) and Primavera P6 is advantageous
  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (civil, electrical, or related field)
  • Disciplinary knowledge of energy regulatory frameworks
