Transmission & Distribution Project Manager (Energy)
Position: Senior Energy Transmission & Distribution Project Manager (or Project Management Professional) – UK & Ireland

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Project Management Professional with specialist experience supporting Distribution and/or Transmission Companies in the UK and Ireland. Ideal candidates should have a deep technical expertise in high-voltage substation design.
Your role:
- Formation and management of project teams, identifying additional support beyond WSP Energy Networks.
- Definition and alignment of project deliverables with clients and internal teams.
- Client/stakeholder management, both external and internal, ensuring contract delivery.
- Project planning and execution, including:
- Resourced programmes for service delivery.
- Control of timelines and project spend, with cost forecasting.
- Risk, change, and quality assurance.
- Leadership of engineering design resources to deliver project outputs.
- Support to bid teams in developing commercial proposals.
- Application and management of consultancy services through frameworks.

Why WSP?

- Overhead power lines/transformers
- Substations, switchyards, and compensation equipment
- Underground/submarine cables
- HVDC/EHV networks, plus SCADA/DMS systems
As a rapidly growing Energy Networks team (UK & Ireland), we have global support from WSP’s international network.
What You’ll Bring
Essential
- Proven project leadership in transmission and distribution (UK-regulated and non-regulated sectors).
- Client-facing experience, including bid/development proposal support.
- Professional project management certification (e.g. APM/PMI).
- Technical qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline.
Advantageous
- Proficiency in MS Project (Primavera P6 advantage).
- Extensive substation design experience.
