Transport Admin Officer
Contract: 3 months Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, Fully Onsite Payrate: £20.96 per hr. via PAYE £25.70 per hr. via Umbrella Location: Morden, UK
About the Role
To assist the Passenger Operations and Fleet Manager and Supervisors in delivering transport provision for SEN (Special Educational Needs) and Adult/Social Care service users.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing administrative support (e.g., creating communications, KPI data entry, route planning).
- Acting as internal/external liaison (e.g., SEN Transport, parents/guardians).
- Operating with Microsoft Office 365 proficiency.
- Potentially undertaking Transport Supervisor duties upon training.
- Managing driver/attendant teams and vehicle fleets about cost-effectiveness, compliance, and operational delivery.
- Ensuring safeguarding and regulatory compliance (e.g., DBS checks, Driver CPC, MIDAS updates).
- Promoting staff morale, performance monitoring, and high-quality communication aligned with council goals.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Service Responsibilities
- Oversee passenger transport service efficiency and performance monitoring.
- Train, mentor, and ensure compliance of drivers/passenger assistants (e.g., DBS, Driver CPC, travel CNS).
- Conduct vehicle spot checks to verify safety/legality.
- Identify and arrange training needs for staff, managing systems and recording certifications.
- Collaborate with all departments and engage with parents/guardians to shape services.
- Ensure all correspondence adheres to Departmental Policy and corporate standards.

Finance & Resources
- Leverage technology for enhancing service delivery.
Staff Management
- Recruit, train, and manage staff, leading performance monitoring and employee wellbeing.
- Drive critically inappropriate performance resolution.
- Ensure alignment with Council’s Health and Safety Policies.
Commissioning & Relationships
- Ensure customer/client expectations are met (rectifying performance shortfalls, improving weak areas).
- Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders (e.g., TfL, CSF, Police, Schools).
Management & Leadership
- Adhere to Council Performance Appraisals and maintain compliance with staff/legislative obligations.
- Demonstrate diversity and equalities principles in all tasks.
Requirements
Knowledge Needed
✔ Transport operations/regulatory knowledge (e.g., Driver and Vehicle Legislation). ✔ Budget management & financial procedures. ✔ Community and Local Government administration. ✔ Safeguarding policies for children/vulnerable adults. ✔ DBS (Disclosure Barbing processes). ✔ Equality & equal-opportunities policies.

Technical Skills
✔ Route planning & schedule optimisation. ✔ Data-entry-driven operations using Microsoft Office 365. ✔ Stakeholder communication (internal & external). ✔ Risk assessment and handling ventures within H&S frameworks. ✔ Analysis of complex operational/financial data.

Experience
