VNI Finance is delighted to retain this key client in Hamilton, requiring the recruitment of a newly created Transport & Logistics Manager.
Our client is a global market leader in recycling, operating as part of a larger group. The Transport & Logistics Manager will play a crucial role in the UK leadership team, reporting directly to the Operations Director.
Role Overview
- Manage UK, European, and international freight operations (including USA and Far East).
- Coordinate imports and exports via road, sea, and air freight.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, hauliers, customs brokers, and shipping partners.
- Ensure accurate completion of customs documentation and import/export compliance.
- Manage relationships with logistics providers and negotiate competitive freight rates.
- Monitor freight costs and identify operational savings.
- Maintain on-time deliveries while ensuring excellent customer service.
- Resolve transport delays, customs issues, and operational challenges.
- Produce logistics performance reports for senior management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the logistics function.
- Collaborate closely with finance regarding freight costs, customs duties, and international shipping charges.
- Assist in forecasting transport requirements as business volumes increase.
- Develop scalable logistics processes to support future growth.
- Oversee all incoming and outgoing weighbridge operations.

Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in transport, logistics, or international freight.
- Strong understanding of import/export procedures and customs compliance.
- Experience managing UK and international freight providers.
- Knowledge of Incoterms and international shipping documentation.
- Excellent organisation, planning, and commercial awareness.
- Ability to control freight costs and solve complex challenges autonomously.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP/system tools.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 (dependent on experience).
- Senior exposure: Direct access to Managing Director and leadership team.
- Autonomy to shape the logistics function with clear progression into a Supply Chain leadership role.
