The Role

Mergon UK are currently hiring a Transport and Operations Administrator to join our Operations team in Blackburn.

This role will be responsible for supporting the efficient flow of customer orders and managing all distribution activity to ensure deliveries are completed safely, compliantly, and on time. You will play a key role in coordinating transport, liaising with internal teams and external transport providers, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the transport function. You will also be responsible for goods in, ensuring incoming product is receipted and managed correctly.

Alongside your transport duties which will cover half your working week, you will provide operational support in the office with customer support, reporting, production & warehouse planning, and various administrative tasks.

Hours of Work

8.15am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday, with one early finish (1pm) on a Thursday (week 1) or a Friday (week 2). The role is based fully on-site at our Blackburn facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the end-to-end distribution of customer orders
  • Work closely with Production to ensure product availability, provide picking lists, and achieve delivery targets
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with external transport providers, monitoring performance and service levels
  • Support warehouse planning activities including allocation of jobs to team members
  • Prepare and issue transport documents to drivers including export paperwork for European loads
  • Manage on-site contractor inductions, PPE provisions, and work permits
  • Coordinate and process goods in operations, including allocation of unloading jobs, receipting product into the system, and ensuring all paperwork is correct
  • Reconcile transport invoices, working with the Finance team on any discrepancies
  • Provide customer support via phone and email and work closely with the internal Sales team
  • Provide administrative operational support such as production and warehouse planning, data input and reporting, and inventory and supplier management

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this Transport and Operations Coordinator role you will likely have:

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced Transport, Logistics, or Supply Chain role. Experience within European Exports is advantageous
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once
  • Good understanding of transport operations and processes
  • Good communication and customer service skills with the ability to build relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and customers
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly with documentation and invoices
  • Confident with IT systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Candidates with previous experience as a Logistics Administrator, Transport Clerk, Exports Administrator or similar are encouraged to apply.
