Are you passionate about logistics performance, continuous improvement, and using data to drive operational excellence?

Shotton Mill is looking for an ambitious and analytical Transport Coordinator to help shape and optimise one of the UK's most dynamic transport operations.

Supporting a logistics network handling 400 HGV movements per day and a £40 million annual transport spend, you'll play a pivotal role in driving efficiency, improving carrier performance, reducing costs, and supporting best-in-class customer service.

This is an exciting opportunity for a logistics professional who thrives on solving problems, analysing performance, implementing improvements, and working collaboratively with suppliers, carriers, and operational teams.

What You'll Be Doing

Driving Continuous Improvement

  • Lead transport continuous improvement initiatives across inbound and outbound logistics
  • Analyse logistics performance data to identify efficiency, service, and cost-saving opportunities
  • Develop and manage improvement plans across transport operations
  • Support logistics innovation projects, digitisation initiatives, and operational optimisation programmes
  • Drive best practice across logistics processes, systems, and reporting

Logistics & Transport Operations

  • Coordinate logistics activities with production, warehousing, and customer service teams
  • Monitor carrier performance, delivery lead times, and transport service levels
  • Support routing optimisation, load consolidation, and modal selection initiatives
  • Ensure transport activities remain safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible
  • Support time slot compliance and transport planning performance

Data, Reporting & Performance Management

  • Produce logistics dashboards, KPI reports, and management information
  • Analyse freight spend, transport costs, and performance trends
  • Utilise Transportation Management Systems and reporting tools to drive operational improvements
  • Support data-led decision making across the logistics function
  • Maintain accurate logistics and performance data

Supplier & Stakeholder Management

  • Support transport tender activities and procurement projects
  • Evaluate carrier performance and benchmark against market standards
  • Build strong relationships with hauliers, suppliers, and operational stakeholders
  • Support contract management and service improvement initiatives
  • Act as a key link between logistics, procurement, production, and customer service functions

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a senior logistics, transport, or supply chain role
  • Strong understanding of transport operations and logistics performance management
  • Proven experience using data to drive operational improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience developing KPIs, dashboards, and performance reporting
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience working in fast-paced operational environments
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

  • CIPS, APICS, or equivalent Supply Chain qualification
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)
  • Experience within manufacturing, distribution, or FMCG operations
  • Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, JDA, Transporeon, Paragon, or similar platforms
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement qualifications
  • Turkish language skills
