Job Description

We are currently seeking a Transport Coordinator to join our Transport team at our Heywood site on a full time permanent basis!

  • Salary: £30,000 per annum.
  • Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm.

The purpose of a Transport Coordinator is to effectively plan driver and vehicle resources to achieve delivery/collection times, whilst optimising resources and adhering to WTD and driver’s hours’ legislation.

Key Duties of a Transport Coordinator:

  • Creating and updating daily run summary in order to achieve delivery and collection deadlines.
  • Liaising with the shunting operation covering pre loading and unloading operation.
  • Ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments.
  • Using the Driver rota, planning runs according to shift pattern and available hours, taking into account holidays and sickness.
  • Ensuring legal compliance regarding any defects, services, MOT’s, etc.
  • Maintaining clear and effective communication with drivers; communicating accurate start times, load information, directions, additional shifts, etc.
  • Ensuring adherence to all statutory and legal requirements, as well as all health and safety/safe systems of work policies.
  • Assisting with disciplinary hearings, return to work meetings, substance misuse procedures, etc in order to maintain standards and ensure that employees work at an appropriate level.

Qualifications

  • Proven knowledge and experience of tachograph/driving rules and regulations.
  • Significant transport experience within an FMCG environment would be desirable.
  • Planning and organising skills, with the ability to work efficiently and accurately to meet set deadlines under pressure.
  • Previous management/ supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
  • Good IT skills including MS Office packages with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to work as part of a team or individually.
  • CPC National is desirable but not essential.
