Transport First Line Manager Rotational Days

Salary: £34,000 - £36,435 per annum

Grade: N

Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

Shift Pattern: Rotational 06:00 - 14:00 - 14:00 - 22:00, Working any 5 days from 7 (including weekends)

Location: Bristol, BS10 7ES

Start Date: November 2026

Join Our New State-of-the-Art Transport Operation

We're looking for an ambitious and people-focused Transport First Line Manager (FLM) to join our brand-new Bristol site, supporting our valued customer, Waitrose.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an industry-leading operation featuring excellent on-site facilities, including a modern gym and restaurant. You'll join a collaborative and supportive team where innovation, engagement, and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.

As a Transport FLM, you'll play a pivotal role in leading our driver teams, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and safety while creating an engaging and positive working environment.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring all activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and compliantly.
  • Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence (O-Licence) requirements and transport legislation.
  • Manage driver performance, engagement, and wellbeing through regular communication, coaching, and structured one-to-one meetings.
  • Ensure all drivers have the appropriate training, tools, and support to perform their roles successfully.
  • Monitor vehicle compliance, ensuring defects are reported and resolved promptly.
  • Drive a strong safety culture by maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and compliance.
  • Develop, motivate, and inspire your team to achieve operational and customer excellence.
  • Analyse operational performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with colleagues and utilise Waitrose WMS and transport systems to support operational success.

What You'll Bring

  • A positive, proactive leadership style with the ability to engage and motivate teams.
  • Experience in a transport, logistics, or operational leadership role is desirable.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and people management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A hands-on approach with a willingness to support the operation when required.
  • Good IT skills, including experience with WMS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A commitment to delivering high standards of service, safety, and compliance.
