📅Here's The Exciting Bit… A Day Includes

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Superdrug Supply Chain team as a Transport Manager, based at our Southern Distribution Centre in Dunstable. The site plays a critical role in the network, picking and transporting stock to 1,033 stores through a combination of direct-to-store and trunking deliveries, supporting both Superdrug and Savers. The role is central to ensuring outstanding availability, service and cost efficiency across our retail estate.

The Role

You will join an established Transport Management team of four, collectively responsible for a 7-day transport operation. With clear individual accountabilities and strong peer collaboration, the team delivers a resilient and well-supported operation, underpinned by a wider transport management structure including a Transport Compliance Office (TCO) and Transport Team Leaders.

As Transport Manager, you will be accountable for the safe, compliant, resilient, and cost-effective delivery of your defined area of the transport operation, covering outbound store deliveries, inter-distribution centre trunking, and movements to third-party hubs. You will hold joint responsibility for the effective management and compliance of a UK Operator’s Licence covering up to 100 motor vehicles and 150 trailers.

You will lead a mixed workforce of permanent and agency transport colleagues, driving high standards of service, safety, cost control, and continuous improvement. The role requires flexibility, including rota-based weekend working, to support operational requirements and ensure business continuity.

📝Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for end-to-end transport performance within your defined area, delivering strong on-time, in-full (OTIF) results.
  • Act as Joint O-Licence holder, ensuring full compliance with DVSA, Health & Safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, engage and develop transport colleagues, embedding a strong safety and performance culture.
  • Own and control transport costs within your area, including agency spend, fuel, utilisation and productivity.
  • Manage agency and third-party providers, holding them to agreed SLAs, cost and service standards.
  • Use transport systems, telematics and data to monitor KPIs and drive operational improvement.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, improving service, safety and efficiency.
  • Support sustainability and ESG objectives, including fuel efficiency and emissions reduction.
  • Own elements of transport resilience and disruption planning, ensuring operational readiness for peak and unplanned events.
  • Work collaboratively with Transport Managers, Warehouse Management teams, Transport Planning, other Distribution Centres, and wider Supply Chain stakeholders to ensure seamless end-to-end execution.

Essential

What we are looking for:

  • Transport Manager CPC Qualification
  • Proven experience leading and managing transport teams
  • Name and active on a UK Operator's license, with demonstrable compliance responsibility.

Desirable

  • Previous experience as a HGV Driver
