ArrowXL: Transport Manager Opportunity in Wigan
ArrowXL are the UK’s leading provider of two-person home delivery, striving to make the world of delivery a better place by building a business that supports the way we live today. Most of our work is taking responsibility for storing and delivering large, heavy, bulky items – the kind of work that typically needs two people to handle. Quite often these items need to be installed, which we do too.
ArrowXL are excited to announce that we’re now recruiting for a Transport Manager for our Wigan Depot.
Managing your teams, you will hold overall responsibility for the smooth operation of our Transport and Service Delivery functions, ensuring our customers receive the best quality service.
Interested in the opportunity of joining the UK’s largest multi-user, two-person, home delivery and warehouse specialist?
Main Responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis, this role is about leading on-site resources (colleagues, vehicles, and equipment) to ensure we have everything required in the right place at the right time, not only to meet, but also to flex to our customers' changing needs.
Reporting into the site General Manager, you will also be accountable for;
- Leading, guiding and motivating your team of skilled Shift Managers, First Line Managers and service delivery crews
- Manage the Transport Function at Wigan (main hub) and northern out-bases.
- Efficient fleet utilisation, resource planning and cost control (whilst always ensuring the operation is both effective and compliant)
- Take the lead and be the site expert for legal compliance and safety, ensuring your sites consistently operate safely and legally
- Identify opportunities for improved efficiencies within the Transport function, recommending and implementing changes where needed and sharing best practices across our network of hubs
- The resourcing, development and management of all colleagues within your team
- Making prompt decisions which protect customer service and our delivery schedule, as well as remaining commercially focused

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
