By joining Arup’s Transport Consulting team, you’ll work within a collaborative and creative environment, at the heart of Arup’s transport planning and modelling. Operating across the UK and internationally, this team supports multidisciplinary projects and actively engages with the global transport modelling community. Together, we deliver insights that shape sustainable and resilient transport networks.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for experienced and ambitious Transport Modellers to join our team, where you’ll:
- Work on challenging, high-profile projects, applying cutting-edge data, models, and frameworks to solve real-world transport challenges.
- Collaborate with senior transport modellers and project managers, contributing to bids, prediction of future conditions, emissions and demand testing, scenario evaluation, and overall scheme optimisation from start to finish.
- Deal with the entire modelling lifecycle—from critical data analysis and model development, to reporting, analysis and client delivery.
Beyond local work, this role may present international opportunities, aligning well with those seeking to develop strategic modelling skills, expand their technical toolkit, and carve out a strong career trajectory in a supportive and collaborative team.

Skillset & Mindset
You’ll likely have:
- Extensive experience in transport modelling, including highways, public transport, and multimodal configurations.
- Proven expertise in VISUM, SATURN, CUBE, or MATSim for model development, calibration, and validation.
- Deep knowledge of network and transport forecasting, demand modelling, sustainability considerations, and scenario testing (TAG requirements).
- Strong commEnsure excellence in data analysis, reporting, and clear technical note production, with an emphasis on presentation skills.
- Capability to communicate complex findings and decide whether to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proactively contribute, putting forward innovative solutions to tackle real-world challenges.
