The Lockwood Group of Companies is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Transport Operations Apprentice. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals while gaining a nationally recognised Level 3 Transport Operations Supervisor qualification.
Working alongside and being mentored by our Group Fleet & Maintenance Manager & the wider Transport Team, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience across all aspects of fleet and transport operations, helping to keep our diverse fleet safe, compliant and operating efficiently.
Salary
National Minimum Wage for Apprentices (Year 1 of the apprenticeship). Salary will be reviewed following successful completion of the first year of training.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 40 hours per week
What You'll Be Doing
As our Transport Operations Apprentice, you'll receive structured training whilst supporting the day-to-day operation of our fleet. Duties will include:

- Assisting with vehicle maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Supporting fleet compliance, including MOTs, inspections and servicing.
- Learning about transport legislation, operator licence compliance and industry best practice.
- Assisting with defect reporting and repair management.
- Liaising with drivers, workshops, suppliers and third-party service providers.
- Maintaining accurate fleet records and documentation.
- Supporting vehicle licensing, taxation and compliance administration.
- Producing reports and analysing operational data.
- Assisting with projects to improve fleet efficiency and performance.
- Developing a strong understanding of transport operations and commercial vehicle maintenance.
As part of your development, you will also work towards gaining your Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (Manager CPC). This highly respected industry qualification is a key requirement for Transport Managers and will provide you with an excellent foundation for a long-term career in transport management.
No previous transport experience is necessary—we're looking for the right attitude and willingness to learn.
About The Apprenticeship
You will complete the Level 3 Transport Operations Supervisor Apprenticeship whilst working full-time within the business.

By the end of your apprenticeship, you will have gained:
- Level 3 Transport Operations Supervisor Apprenticeship
- Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (Manager CPC)
- Practical experience managing fleet compliance, maintenance and transport operations within a successful national logistics business.
