Kinaxia Warrington – Transport Operator (Nights) – Warrington
About the Role
We are seeking a Transport Operator (Nights) to optimise our collections and deliveries by leveraging efficient routes, IT systems, and vehicles while meeting cost-effectiveness, customer service levels, and legislative standards. Based in Warrington, this role will operate under the business objectives of our group.
Key Responsibilities
Scheduling & Operations
- Execute collections and deliveries via the most economical routes, ensuring accurate allocation of:
- Drivers
- Vehicles
- Loads, backloads, and trailers
- Provide transparent communication with internal and external customers to enhance departmental efficiency and meet customer service targets.
- Monitor and adjust driver staffing levels, facilitating shifts for both permanent and agency staff to align with demand.
- Authorise weekly driver timesheets to adhere to hours regulation compliance (e.g., EU tachograph requirements).
Monitoring & Incident Management
- Track driver/vehicle status to ensure on-schedule collections and deliveries while reporting delays promptly to customers.
- Deploy service recovery actions if a customer’s shipment risks failure, ensuring contingency plans are not overlooked.
- Work closely with internal departments to resolve operational disruptions efficiently.

Command & Safety Compliance
- Maintain safe and tidy operational environments, adhering to all health and safety, and housekeeping regulations.
- Engage in teamwork and cross-training to enable reliable staff cover when necessary.
Performance & Innovation
- Review logistics performance metrics and debrief drivers to inform delivery improvements.
- Identify and implement continuous operational improvements to optimise group-wide processes.
Key Relationships
- liaise with warehouses, load planners, and field support teams on updates/amendments for seamless service operations.
Legal & Technical Compliance
- Deal daily with EU tachographs, Highway Code, Working Time Regulations, VOSA and HGV compliance.
- Pass familiar assessments on logistics software (load sheets, dispatch algorithms).
- Desire skillset: advantage accorded to candidates proficient with transport operation softwares and logistics qualifications.

Requirements & Qualifications
Knowledge & Expected Skills
✔ EU Drivers’ Hours, Subsidiary Regulations & VOSA ✔ Highway Code competency ✔ Overview of road freight regulations, wellbeing of drivers, health & safety (e.g. COSHH, PPE) ✔ Proficiency in logistics transport systems (e.g. load planning, sub-contractor management) ✔ Compound drivers’ hour calculations including manual adjustments. ✔ Optional: Industry qualifications (HGV studies or CET qualification highly desirable). ✔ Exposure to multi-HGV transport group workflows preferred but not mandatory.
Experience & Competencies
- Prior in-house HGV transport/retail transport expertise strongly preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a high-volume fleet environment.
- Organised multitasking — managing 50+ HGV movements under unfamiliarity.
- Breaking down disputes between drivers/vendors.
- Data-driven approach — driving productivity via dispatch system optimisation (TachoTale, Load Ranger, or transport ERPs).
- Baseline awareness of supply chain dynamics helping inform planning decisions.
