We are now looking for a Transport Operator (nights) to join us on a full-time, permanent basis at our Grange Park, Northampton site (NN4 5FB), working Sunday to Thursday. The shift patterns for this role are approximately 22:00-06:30 but may change slightly based on business needs.

The Role

As a Transport Operator, you’ll play a key part in keeping our Grange Park operation running smoothly. You’ll coordinate customer deliveries and collections, making sure orders leave site on time and reach our customers exactly as expected.

Working closely with the Transport Supervisor, you’ll manage delivery schedules, respond to customer requests and communicate clearly with drivers so everyone knows what needs to happen and when.

You’ll also carry out driver pre briefs and debriefs, capturing any issues, abnormalities or updates and ensuring all paperwork is accurate. Any concerns or variances will be shared promptly with your line manager so we can keep the operation safe, efficient and compliant.

Whilst it is important to have previous experience, we will equip you with the skills to be able to excel in this role.

Additionally, you will:

  • Ensure all health and safety and mandatory transport procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure Drivers are compliant and give advice where necessary on WTR legislation

About You

To be considered as a Transport Operator, you will need:

  • Previous experience in a Transport Operator role
  • Route planning experience
  • An understanding of transport procedures, including WTD and EU Driver regulations
  • An understanding of fleet management, including maintenance and servicing
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to engage with Yusen Stakeholders and customers
  • Proven ability to stay calm and adapt to challenges
  • A proactive approach and the ability to identify potential problems
  • An understanding of IT systems, particularly excel
