Business Area: Nestlé UK & Ireland

Location: York - Supply Chain – Transport HUB

Salary: Circa £30,000.00 depending on experience (plus 15% shift allowance).

Shift pattern: 4 on, 4 off – hours between 08:00 and 18:00 – no night shifts.

We have a fantastic opportunity to join the THub team as a Transport Optimiser.

The York head office is the base of Nestle’s first European Transport Hub, THub-North. The THub has responsibility for planning and executing Nestlé’s cross border road and intermodal transportation within Europe, doing so with a focus on optimising efficiency, cost, service and sustainability. We manage this across Nestlé‘s European network of factories and distribution centres, as well as inbound raw and packaging materials from our major suppliers where opportunities arise.

Your impact

Your role will involve driving transportation efficiency, by optimizing vehicle utilization and minimizing freight expenses whilst exceeding customer expectations.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all transport demand from the markets is planned in SAP TM as per requirement, with carriers assigned with agreed rates, minimising cost and ensuring compliance to agreed business shares and volumes.
  • Supporting the focus on accurate system set up and master data to ensure we can efficiently complete freight settlement activities and pay our hauliers on time.
  • Maximizing opportunities to consolidate orders and link inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Work with business categories and site planners to drive improvement in vehicle capacity utilisation.
  • Utilise improvement techniques to drive performance improvement and eliminate waste from our processes.

Your ingredients for success

You will have an understanding of Supply Chain end to end processes and will have worked in a similar role with experience in either international or domestic transport planning.

It would be preferred for the successful candidate to have Logistics experience and Transport knowledge would be a distinct advantage.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across various functions and markets are key; along with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.

You will:

  • Be an analytical thinker with a passion for problem solving and a root cause mindset
  • Have used SAP based or similar Transport Planning systems
  • Understand cost vs. service trade off.
  • Have experience of service provision and escalation management
  • Understand supply chain principles associated with “total delivered cost”
  • Be able to handle competing priorities and at times a high-pressure environment.
