Transport Planner Opportunity
An exciting role has arisen for an experienced Transport Planner to join the logistics team at Williams Shipping, Dock Gate 20, Southampton.
About Williams Shipping
Established in 1894, Williams Shipping is a family-run marine and logistics business spanning over 170 employees across 5 sites. Our logistics division specialises in transporting abnormal, out-of-gauge & heavy loads, as well as general haulage, operating across the UK and into Europe. Working within a small team, you’ll plan for 25+ vehicles, maintaining a high-quality service while upholding our core philosophy: “where there’s a will, there’s a way”.
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Logistics Manager
- Utilise transport management software to optimise scheduling for fleet efficiency
- Plan to consistently meet customer service criteria
- Ensure clear communication of transport plans to all relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with our Cargo Handling team and other internal divisions as needed

Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Proven experience as a Transport Planner
- A background in logistics operations
- Ability to work under pressure in a time-critical environment
- Strong communication skills across all levels
- Analytical aptitude, with technical proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Clear geographical knowledge of the UK
- Demonstrated reliability, enthusiasm, and adaptability
Added Advantages (Not Essential):
- Experience in the shipping industry
- Familiarity with VBS systems
- Pre-existing knowledge of transport management IT systems (training provided where needed)

Salary & Benefits
- Salary: Negotiable based on experience
- Hours: 45 hours per week, with on-call/weekend coverage on a rota basis
