Transport Planner – Colchester
Kinaxia are looking to recruit a Transport Planner to join their team at their site in Colchester. The role of the Transport Planner will be to plan and execute collection and delivery schedules via the most cost-efficient means, in line with business objectives, customer service levels, and current legislative requirements.
Hours
- Monday–Saturday
- Monday–Friday: 09:00–17:00
- Saturday: 08:00–13:00

Job Role
- Make full use of all IT systems, Transport Management Systems (TMS), and customer portals to ensure efficient fleet and employee deployment.
- Fully utilise all vehicles to ensure accurate and appropriate allocation of drivers, vehicles, trailers, customer deliveries, and backloads.
- Work closely with the Workshop to ensure vehicles and trailers are available to meet transport requirements and service scheduling, while advising the operation in a timely manner regarding risks to vehicle or trailer availability.
- Communicate and share plans with the transport team to deliver efficiently while maintaining customer service levels.
- Manage staffing levels, including agency staff, to ensure sufficient workforce coverage and meet customer requirements.
- Communicate effectively with all customers—understanding and supporting their schedules, facilitating handovers to relevant departments, and addressing operational delays to maintain a smooth, efficient service.
- Plan operational deliveries for the following day and provide rates, quotes, and process customer bookings to meet expectations.
- Work within a team and participate in cross-training initiatives to ensure effective cover in a colleague’s absence.
- Identify, communicate, and drive continuous improvements to develop business operations.
- Operate to a high standard of general housekeeping while complying with health and safety regulations to maintain a clean, safe, and tidy working environment.

- Working knowledge of:

- Geographical knowledge
- Health and Safety regulations
- Relevant transport and planning experience
- Analysing and solving logistic problems
- Proficiency in transport operation systems
