Transport Operator - Felixstowe

Competitive Salary | Full Time | Permanent

Our client is a well-established and highly respected container transport operator, providing nationwide haulage and logistics solutions across the UK.

Working with many of the UK's leading shipping lines, freight forwarders and importers, the business has built its reputation on delivering reliable, customer-focused transport solutions through operational excellence and a dedicated team of professionals.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Operator to join the Felixstowe operations team.

This is a key role within a busy and fast-paced operation, working alongside an experienced team to ensure the efficient planning and delivery of container movements while maintaining the highest standards of customer service and compliance.

  • Planning and allocating work to drivers.
  • Monitoring vehicle movements and ensuring deliveries are completed on time.
  • Liaising with drivers throughout the day and providing operational support.
  • Communicating with customers and providing updates where required.
  • Updating the transport management system with accurate job information.
  • Managing vehicle and trailer availability.
  • Assisting with driver hours and transport compliance.
  • Working closely with colleagues to resolve operational issues quickly and efficiently.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience within container transport or road haulage.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to deal with drivers and customers.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise workloads.
  • Experience using transport planning and port-related systems.
  • A proactive approach with a strong attention to detail.
  • A genuine team-focused attitude.

Working Hours

This is a day shift position based in Felixstowe.

As with any transport operation, some flexibility is required to meet customer demands, so occasional adjustments to start and finish times may be necessary.

The role also forms part of a weekend on-call rota, typically one weekend in every six weeks.
