Transport Planner
Transport Planner
Freightliner, the UK's largest maritime intermodal logistics operator, is looking to recruit a Transport Planner for their award-winning team at London Gateway (Stanford-le-Hope).
Position Details
- Role: Transport Planner, Permanent (Full-Time)
- Hours: 45 hours per week (Monday – Friday), with weekend cover on a rota basis
- Location: London Gateway, Stanford-le-Hope

The Role
The Transport Planner will play a critical role in our Transport Planning team, ensuring optimum fleet utilisation, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet & Customer Planning:
- Produce a daily Transport Plan aligned with customer orders and expectations
- Negotiate timings to maximise fleets fleet utilisation
- Aim to support and meet daily revenue targets

Resource & Subcontractor Management:
- Provide new work quotations
- Source and resource subcontractors, ensuring full induction and compliance with company standards
- Conduct rate negotiations with subcontractors

Decision & Documentation:
- Attend daily planning review meetings to approve next-day and night plans
- Ensure plans are implemented as cost-effective solutions
- Update systems accurately and leverage their full functionality

Customer Engagement:
- Maintain high standards of customer service
- Collaborate with other UK depots to deliver a seamless customer experience
About You
To excel in this role, you will have:
- Technical & Regulatory Knowledge:
- Full comprehension of Tachograph regulations, drivers’ hours, and working time legislation
- Preference for TOPS, Destin8, and VBS Systems familiarity
- Industry & Logistics Expertise:
- Proven transport planning experience, with background in container transport preferred
- Strong knowledge of geographical logistics networks
- Organisational Skills:
- Strong organisational, IT, and interpersonal communication skills

- Transport Manager CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) – or, actively working towards it
