Transport Shift Manager – GXO (Currys Site, Bristol)

About the Role

GXO is currently seeking two talented and driven individuals for the position of Transport Shift Manager, to operate at our busy Currys site in Bristol. In this critical role, you will:

  • Support the dedicated transport operation for the GXO Currys network.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and procedural conformance.
  • Play a key role in managing transport operations to meet deadlines and quality standards.

The role is available on a:

  • Full-time, permanent basis
  • Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Manage and resolve daily operations issues, including:
    • Accidents and breakdowns
    • Escalation of service-threatening issues to the appropriate management level
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, including:
    • Health and safety
    • Working Time Directive (WTD)
    • Operator’s (O-licence) legislation
    • Tachograph laws
    • Employment law

Team & Schedule Management

  • Control and manage driver and staff shift patterns, including:
    • Coordination of bank holidays and annual leave
    • Adaptation to fluctuating customer requirements
    • Achievement of weekly operational targets

Performance & Development

  • Motivate, coach, and develop staff to deliver on stringent customer targets in a highly time-sensitive environment.
  • Address conflicting priorities and plan effectively to maintain productivity.

Essential & Desirable Qualifications

Experience & Competencies

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, with proven track record in team supervision and an operational transport environment.
  • National CPC (Certificat de Profil Professionnel)—desirable.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Key operational cost drivers
    • Profit and Loss (P&L) or cost centre management
    • Managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
    • Planning, organisation, and efficient prioritisation.
