Transport Supervisor (4 On/4 Off Nights) – Coalville
Location: Menzies Distribution Solutions – Customer Site (Coalville) Shift Pattern: 4 On / 4 Off Nights Shift Hours: 19:00 – 07:00 Salary: £38,240 per annum (monthly pay) Parking: Onsite
Menzies Distribution Solutions are seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to join our fast-paced team. This role ensures the efficient distribution of goods while adhering to Transport Legislation, Health & Safety standards, and high customer service expectations. You’ll be responsible for optimising delivery schedules, managing driver utilisation, and ensuring timetables are met cost-effectively under Driver Hours (WTD) and Tachograph legislation.
About the Site
- 24/7 operation
- Focus on general haulage using Class 1 vehicles (primarily HGV transportation)
- Predominantly serves the packaging industry
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Implement and follow plans set by the onsite Planning Team
- Maintain Transport Compliance and Health & Safety standards
- Ensure customer products are delivered on time and in full
Driver & Logistics Management
- Pre-brief and de-brief drivers before and after shifts
- Allocate and resource drivers or subcontractors efficiently
- Monitor and report POD (proof of delivery) processes
- Maximise vehicle utilisation within regulatory limits
- Manage vehicle turnover, ensuring accurate checks are completed
- Source local agency drivers and subcontractors (collaborating with the Professional Services Lead)
- Conduct investigations and return-to-work interviews as required

Operational Oversight
- Communicate delays or issues to stakeholders
- Conduct continuous improvement analysis in transport operations
- Adapt to multi-system environments seamlessly (e.g., tracking, compliance software)
- Prioritise a high-volume workload under tight deadlines
Occasional Flexibility
- Overtime may apply for holidays or sickness cover
- Attendance at disciplinary hearings if necessary
Key Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Right to Work in the UK
- Proven experience in a busy transport office
- Strong knowledge of:
- Driver Hours / Weekly Working Time Directive (WTD) legislation
- Tachograph compliance
- Transport systems and logistics software
- Health & Safety (road transport & workplace)
- Ability to multi-task across multiple screens/systems efficiently
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent prioritisation and decision-making under pressure
- Strong communication (escalating issues to senior stakeholders)
- Proactive problem-solving with a can-do mindset
- IT-savvy (ability to juggle systems/devices simultaneously)
