Transport Team Leader – GXO

Location: B&Q Site, Swindon | Contract: Full-time (Permanent) | Hours: Monday–Friday, 14:00–22:00

About the Role

GXO is seeking a talent Transport Team Leader to oversee and elevate our high-volume transport operations at our Swindon depot. As a core member of the logistics team, you’ll take ownership of planning, team management, and performance delivery to enhance operational efficiency.

Position Type: Full-time, permanent role


What You’ll Do

  • Lead and empower a team (core drivers, agency staff, and support personnel) to drive operational excellence, ensuring smooth daily operations and system maintenance.
  • Plan and execute transport workflows efficiently, balancing priorities, managing staff, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Collaborate closely with the Transport Shift Manager and site leadership to exceed performance targets while nurturing strong relationships with direct reports, peers, and third-party logistics partners (3PLs).

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Alum planning and team coordination to guarantee reliability and punctuality.
  • Championing a can-do culture with proactive conflict resolution skills.
  • Taking operational ownership and applying creativity to workflow challenges.

Success Factors & Requirements

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Strong hands-on experience in complex logistics/transport operations, ideally within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance deadlines and shifting priorities while solving complex problems.
  • Excellent leaning/agility skills—adaptability in transport scheduling, coordinating remote shifts/support roles, and focusing on operational forecasting.
  • Exceptional team leadership and communication skills—hout able to delegate tasks, delegate onto share KPIs, and collaborate effectively.
  • A commitment to operational best practice, continuous improvement, and delivering performance.

Pay & For Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
