Transport Team Manager
LGV Team Manager – Transport Department
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced LGV Team Manager to lead and manage our busy transport department across mixed day and night shifts. This key role will oversee all aspects of our LGV operation, including fleet management, facilities, and people, ensuring efficient and professional service delivery across diverse shift patterns.
This position requires a highly adaptable, results-driven individual exceling under pressure. Key traits include:
- Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills to manage workloads amid evolving business demands.
- A calm and focused demeanor, particularly during peak periods.
- Strong communication skills, with adaptability to suit different stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Excellence:
- Manage daily operations, shift and fleet coordination, optimise routes, and ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
- People Management:
- Lead and motivate a high-performing driver team while fostering a positive work environment.
- Compliance:
- Ensure full adherence to LGV/Traffic Commissioner regulations and internal policies.
- Customer Focus:
- Deliver exceptional service, proactively resolving issues to exceed customer expectations.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Maintain a safe working environment while enforcing all safety protocols.
- Brand Representation:
- Professionally represent the company internally and externally.

Shift Pattern:
- Mixed shifts (day, midday, and night).
- 4 on, 4 off schedule with 12-hour shifts.
Skills & Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience in managing teams (with particular emphasis on large groups).
- Strong internal and external customer service skills.
- Current UK driving license.
- Relevant management or supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent Highway Code knowledge and in-depth EU/Working Time Directive compliance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, suppliers, and team members.
- Familiarity with HR policies and procedures.
- Skills in people management, team building, and conflict resolution.
- Industry-specific experience in FMCG logistics, fleet management, or health & safety.
- Hold a CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) – National or International Road Haulage.
